Actually my doctor is really concerned because of the vomiting. He said either i advanced foods too early,or eating too fast, eating  too much at every bit, or my pouch is too tight. So he put me on Liquids for the next seven days to see if i can just keep that down. H e also stated i was dehydrated. So I really really need on concentrating on my liquids and protein. He didn't say anythinfg at all about he weightloss. But I guess he's concern. Whats good of loosing weight if im not getting in the right stuff. then he gave me some other meds to help the inflamation that i might have from the. So I'm praying its not my pouch because if it is he said they would have to put something down my throat to stretch it. Hesays sometimes that happens. Well guys just pray its not that. But yesterday i didn'y throw up at all. I stayed on mostly liquids, and so far today im doing ok. but im still happy. I started to get depreseed a lil but i had to snap out of that real quick.  This is real serious and should not be taken lightly. I damm sure don't want to be non-compliant. Well thats all for now.

HAPPY HAPPY WEIGHTLOSS!!!

I just wanted to let you know that if it is a stricture and they need to use the scope....it's no biggie.  I had it done twice and you sleep through the whole thing and can eat again the next day!  Feel better.

Don't let it worry you too much. From weeks 3-5 post-RNY, I threw up 27x in 17 days. My pouch was just very fickle at that point and nothing agreed with it. That was really the only complication I experienced and I'm coming up on 3 years post-op.

2-5% of patients experience a stricture, but the scope is an outpatient procedure and my understanding is there isn't any pain involved.

It is outpatient and the anesthesia is different.  They will tell you that you will not be all the way out, but you will not remember anything.  I  had no problems at all with it.  No gas or sickness. From the time I walked into the hospital til i left was about two hours!

Hugs

I was the same as you.  Everything I ate came up.  It was a stricture.  They opened it in day surgery.  No big deal.  I felt fine and went home about 2 hours  after the proceedure.  No pain.  Was on liquids the rest of that day.  Haven't had any problems since then and everything stays down.

Good luck.

I threw up at least 1x per day at first. I had several upper GI's and they didn't find anything wrong. I really think it came down to relearning how to eat.

It is HARD to change 30 years of habits. It is normal to just jump into a plate of food and take a big ol bite. You just can't do it anymore! I am 7 months out now, and vomit maybe once every two weeks now. And it always from either taking too big of a bite, or not chewing enough. (The only other reason I have thrown up is if I eat french fries....go figure, I don't dump, but one french fry and I heave all day)

So best case is that this is your issue as well. Once cleared for food again, really focus on eating slow with small bites and chewing until your jaws ache. It will feel more normal after some practice. Good luck!

Ditto with the other comments regarding a possible stricture.
You're doing the right thing by keeping your surgeon informed on your progress.
Feel better soon!                 Jenny

You know my boyriend looked me crazy when I told him that i answered all the questions at the doctors office as acurrate as possible. Why should i lie to my doc?. He wants the best for me and than damm i coud hurt myself. This was a big deal for me the surgery, and i want the best for myself. This tool is a blessing and i know i will get to my goal weight sooner than later. We all have to learn again what right and whats wrong. Sometimes when your thin and have never had a weight problem in life you just can't reall comprehend the obesity world. But he's coming around better now. But like I said I have to keep focus on me
