Caffeine
I don’t normally drink coffee, but for some reason I had a hankerin’ for a cup this morning. It was regular coffee and not decaf (I know, bad girl). Anyway, I got to thinking – since alcohol gets into the system faster after WLS, does caffeine do the same? Will a post WLS get the affects of the caffeine faster and on less amounts than a pre-op? I will be changing to decaf, but that is all I had in the house this morning. BTW, I am amazed at how my tastes are changing. I loved the coffee! Thanks - Jacque
Good question!
I sure like my protein drinks with coffee!

This is a great question- I kind of wondered this myself.
I was a HUGE coffee drinker pre-surgery, I loved my Starbucks, twice a day, triple venti latte (in Starbucks-ese that is 6 shots of espresso...yowzers).
I still love the stuff, I go decaf now most of the time and I try to keep it to 1-2 a week.
I would do the regular, full strength, high octane more often but I don't for 2 reasons- #1 I used to be a major Advil-popper around that time of the month because my cramps were so bad. I'm talking maybe 20 Advil over a day and a half? At least. I found that since I gave up caffeine my cramps are almost non-existent. Since I can't take Advil, I can't risk the cramps coming back.
#2 reason- I am prone to migraines, which have come with a greater frequency post-surgery, and when I feel one coming on, that's when I do, actually get my double tall skinny latte, full strength, and the headache is gone.
This is probably WAY more information than you wanted, but since I'm a total coffee junkie, I thought I'd share.

Well, I guess I'm back to my first protein drink of the day being without coffee. Thanks for the tip Bren!
