Update on possible gallbladder issue/Endoscopy is scheduled

I totally agree with rulely out an ulcer but don't wait too long.  I had terrible gallbladder problems back in 2002-2003 and actually for  afew years before that.  I started out with sludge for a few years.  Went to ER many times over that time and the sonograms kept coming back showing just sludge.  Then a few months later, I had another sonogram because my nausea was getting out of control and it took about 1 week for my gastro doctor to get the report back and I was on vacation the next week, so it took 2 weeks for me to get the results - I had 9 stones.  I went to see him and he sent me for the HIDA scan just to make sure and it came back at like 16%, so that took about 2 more weeks.  I then went to the surgeon and by time I got the appointment to see the surgeon and schedule the surgery, I had to have preop testing.  So, that took about 3 weeks.  All in all, it was 7 weeks.  When I woke up from the surgery - the surgeon said he never saw anything like it - it was amazing my ducts were blocked causing me to need emergency surgery weeks sooner - at that point I had 25 stones.  He said any longer and it could have been really bad.  he never heard of stones multiplying so rapidly.

So, please don't wait too long. You don't want it to end up an emergency.

good luck

Yikes!!!

I called my gastro this morning, talked to his nurse. She wanted the reports from the gallbladder scans, so I told her where it had been done. Anyway, she isn't sure if my gastro will want to see me or just schedule the Upper Endoscopy. I was down there just before lunch and went by and dropped off a copy that I had of the report (Dr. B gave me a copy).

Anyway, the nurse knows it's a possible gallbladder issue.

Good luck! I had my gallbladder out in February, 4 weeks after my RNY. I am so glad I got mine out when I did, I was in so much pain from it. I hope that if you decide to have surgery that you will have a speedy recovery.

Got my Endoscopy appt. It's June 29th at 7:30 AM.

That's the soonest we could get me in considering I already had plans from the 21st to the 26th out of town. I could have done it the 27th but not until late afternoon...I don't like waiting for afternoon appts where I can't eat, my blood sugar hates it too.

I am glad that you are getting it done, I am just sorry to hear that you have to wait so long.  That is one thing I love about my gastro doctor is that he will always squeeze me in within 2-3 days whenever I am having problems, and in emergencies, he sees me the same day.  I don't see him often but he know if I call him, there is a good reason.  Last time I saw him, I called him on Monday and got an appt on Tuesday and had the Endoscopy on Wednesday.

I wish you luck and keep me posted on how it goes.
