Hi Price.  Wow - sounds like you've been run through the gammut with this.

I had cortisone shots in my back when it was bad - and it didnt do diddly for me, but I know everyone's different.

Now - I was told you can't have more than 3 cortisone shots or it starts breaking down the cartiledge... so ask about that.

Hopefully you'll find relief soon.  Swinging for ya!

Yeah, I think 3 cortisone and 3 joint injections are about it before they stop.  It is better today than yesterday, not as good as the day before.

Well Price, you know that's why I had WLS so I wouldnot have to have my other knee replaced. I had done all the procedures I could to try to keep from having the 1st knee done. However, I can say I am so ............MUCH more mobile, hang in there, A knee replacement is so much better than the pain you're going through...
Brenda

BTW we need to go to next weeks support group if you are up for it...let me know

Thanks, Brenda.  I'm pretty sure I will end up with a replacement at some point.  At least it will be easier with less weight.

I have support group on my book so let's do go.

Price......so sorry you had so much pain.  Glad today it is a little better.

I know you are trying to avoid a knee replacement but I have seen many do so well wth this surgery and with you now being so little, you would do great.  I know separating you from your ponies is not what you want though!

Thinking of you!

Thanks, Jennifer.I know I will end up with one.  It has to be better than what I have been going through, which will never be better, just get worse.  The main reason I lost weight was to be more active and I'm not gooing to let my knee stop me.

Brenda and I have plans for support group next week.  Will we see you?

I would love to see the two of you but I am headed to Michigan tomorrow to spend sometime with my 90 year old grandmother.  I am trying to go to the group once a month but have been gone both times this month....

I also had this surgery due to wanting to be as active as possible......working in healthcare I knew what I was facing if the weight stayed on and I really would like to NOT be disabled if I can prevent that.

I wish you the best of luck with your knee....hopefully the shots will help!

I feel your pain.  I have 2 total knee replacements.  It is a painful recovery but after you recover you will be glad you did it.  I was Diabetic so I healed very slowly.   But know that it's over it was worth it.

I got cortsone shots, had my knee drained, reshaped my knee cap surgically so it wouldn't scape, you name it I did it.  I DO NOT recommend you putting yourself through all that,.  It doesn't work long term. Those things are a temporary fix that don't last to long.  Sometimes the draining and the shots,  which are both very painful to do, last about 2 -3 weeks then they have to be done again.

A  total is what will do the trick.  Get a second oppinion if you're not sure but your DH is right.  Do it now and get it over with.  You won't be sorry after all is healed.

If you have questions you can e-mail me   Good luck to you.

The one cortizone shot hasn't been the cure, for sure.  I have another appt in 5 weeks and see my PCP this week and we can continue the converstation.  Thanks for your support.
