I wish I could send Pepper to you.  He is a Chihuahua but big, 12lbs.  He will be 2 in August.  He is a puppy from my dog Tazzie's last litter and my daughter wanted him.  When she returned home she brought him with her.  I love dearly but 4 dogs is a lot for us.  My daughter never gave him a lot of attention and he is pretty high needs as far as attention and affection goes.  I would never get rid of him unless I was sure he would go to a great home, though.  I already decided he's not going back with my daughter.  She is just too young to handle a dog.
Pepper is a very good dog but very active.  He acts like a puppy and he is always getting into things.  He is my only dog that has figured out how t get into the cupboards and get into the garbage.  Very exhausting dog.  I guess I am not giving him a god reference but he is a lover if you want a dog that will be by your side all the time.

Boy, I wish you lived close by.  My DD has the cutest yorkie/poodle that she wants to give to a good home.

Roz - how old is the yorkie/poodle?  Good around other dogs and kids?  Reason I'm asking is Tom and his brood have 4 dogs between them and they all get together on a regular basis and this dog will be going bye bye in the car a lot and taking trips to see the grandbaby!!

You're not THAT far... can you post a picture?

They got him at Christmas and he was probably about 6 weeks old.  They aren't home long enough to take care of him or enjoy him.  She has been wearing a puppy band on him because he keeps marking everything in the house.  He is great with Raegan but he is never around other animals.   He is a curly black ball of fur.

I'll have to ask her again if she is giving him away for sure.  She was the last I heard.  They paid a mint for him.

I just saw on her FB that she is selling it but I thought she said she was giving it away.  I sent her a message to find out for sure.

I just got an e-mail from my DD and her DH wants $500.00 for the little squirt.  I guess they paid $1300 for him.   Give them another month and it might be back to "giving him away".   She also has 6 new kittens that she is definitely giving away.

Our DD who lives with us has a Yorkie Terrier.  He is the sweetest thing and very smart.  He does get car sick so you might want to watch out for that when looking for one since you are planning on traveling with him.

Morning Gina (almost afternoon!)

I too was awakened at 4:30 by Jake and Juno, who wanted out.  I was thirsty, so I ate a popsicle while they did their thing.  Then I promptly returned to BED for my beauty rest.  I slept 12 hours today, probably because I worked outside in the heat all day yesterday-- or it may have been from eating a large dinner and doing the bar party thing with DH's family last night for a S-I-L's 50th birthday.

Today DH and I are supposed to spend the day together, hopefully a movie and just lazing around. In the morning I leave on travel, will return Friday afternoon.  So I also have to pack-- this time the laptop is coming along so I can study, but that also means I get online in the evenings for awhile.

We got a whopppppper of a rain storm last night.  It helped, but oh I've been doin the rain dance for a whole week of gentle rain.  The grass is crunchy and I have to water my potted plants and garden twice a day.

Jody, I vote for a small labradoodle or a golden doodle.  I saw a couple online in Michigan, but I don't know where you live and one of them was HUGE!  Ours are 50 lbs, but they don't seem big to us, because our last dogs, litter mates and my sixth rescues,  were 120 and 90 lbs each!

Thanks Tracey!  I'm really wanting a toy size something - something I can easily pick up, carry around, etc.  I've always liked ****er spaniels too - haven't done much research on them though.

I'm not a dog person but I can do online research,  LOL.

Given the fact that you wanted something small, I looked up the 10 best small dogs, Of those, the best of the bunch looked like a Yorkshire Terrier or a Dachshund. (my best friend has two dachshunds and they are great)

Anyway, also knowing about where you are, found quite a few of both breeds near you: www.petfinder.com/index.html

Good luck on your quest.
