Congratulations! May I offer you one tip? Unjury is disgusting. :) I use Nectar Medical Unflavored for my unflavored protein. Even just the smell of the Unjury unflavored protein powder turns my stomach. Smells like old milk--blech. Get samples of stuff before you buy tubs of things. Your tastes WILL change after surgery. Also, the first week or two, don't sweat protein amounts--focus on fluids. Have a variety of fluids available. You will get sick of sweet things--everything is fruity or chocolate/vanilla. Invest in some chicken/beef/veggie stock (homemade is best). Experiment with fluid temps. Early out, my sleeve tolerated warm/hot fluids much better than cool/cold. I'm sure more people will chime in, but I just wanted to share some of the stand-out things in my mind from my VSG experience.
At least you don't have much time to get scared. Actually, I never did get scared, I was so convienced this was right for me. Sounds like you are too so, Hurray and get on with it.

That's great!!!! I'm glad every things working out for you!!! It sounds like you have read some posts concerning "what have I gotten myself into"....LOL That's good because you will know that those feelings are normal. And Oh, we love newbies and their questions!!!
I used AnyWhey unflavored from GNC. If you don't like it and you have the receipt you can return it. I love Unjury chicken broth. Like the other poster warm drinks went down a lot easier for me than cold drinks did. I drank a lot of chicken and beef bouillon cubes. I even strained the vegetables out of soup and drank the broth. Also chocolate protein in SF hot chocolate.
Fluids are the most important thing the first 2 weeks. Don't worry about the protein if you can't get it in.

Your best bet at the beginning is to go to GNC and get a few flavors of the Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein - they also have Whey Isolate which has more protein in it but is also alot more expensive. I find the Whey protein has plenty of protein for me.
The advantage to GNC is you can buy the 1 pound bags and try them. Save your receipt and if you dont' like them, you can return them within 60 days. I love the chocolate and the cookies and cream was just okay. I use the chocolate all the time and makes great protein drinks and gives me tons of protein. Here are a couple of recipes which I wish I had a the beginning. I drank the premixed stuff at the beginning which had so little protein and the homemade ones taste so much better.
Protein Hot Chocolate.
Get Sensibly Sweet - no sugar added hot chocolate from Swiss Miss - 60 calorie packs. Don't get the 25 calorie packs or you end up needing 2 of them and then it costs twice as much.
Make the hot chocolate as usual. In a separate little bowl, take a scoop and a half of the chocolate protein powder and add 1/3 of a cup of cool water and mix until smooth (never mix protein powder with warm or ho****er - you will end up with a clumpy mess) Add the protein mixture to the hot chocolate and mix. Add milk to taste. Some like to add some sugar free cool whip on top - this is optional down the road - I wouldn't do this the first few months.
This gives you approx. 35 grams of protein per mug.
Chocolate Monkey
8 ounces of milk - I use Fat free lactaid
2 tablespoons of sugar free chocolate syrup - best with davinci's or torani;s but can use any type
5 ice cubes
1 1/2 scoops of chocolate protein powder - I use GNC ProPerformance 100% Whey Protein
2 heaping tablespoons of sugar free chocolate pudding powder
1 sliced banana
Put it all in a blender (mix the chocolate syrup in the milk with a spoon and then add the rest) Turn on the blender for about 45 seconds until all the ice cubes are gone and everything is blended smoothly.
This will give you an absolutely delicious chocolate milkshake with approximately 45 grams of protein. Make sure you have a very large glass or cup. I use a plastic cup - I think it is 24 ounces.
