I was so worried about hair loss because I do have alot of hair but it is fine. So, I ended up not losing an excessive amount of hair but my hair is so dry!! I have tried various leave in conditioners, glossing treatments, argon oil, avocado oil, etc...

Nothing is helping...does anyone know of something else I might can try? or do I need to add something to my diet to help? I look like a straw head :(

Protein: 100+ grams a day...maybe a blend of whey protein isolate and casein. Whey protein from shakes and casein from protein bullets.

Oils: coconut, olive, soybean, etc.

Fats: Perhaps real butter.

Are you getting less than 30 grams of fats and oils a day? That could be it. Also, make sure you're getting zinc and selenium in your vitamins.

That's all I can think of. I hope it helps.

Thanks Gina! I am doing everything you suggested except my protein averages about 80 gr. I will add another shake at night!

NIOXIN Shampoo and Conditioner.  You probably have to buy it at a Salon.

I found a great product you can get at Walmart or Walgreens. It is by John Frieda Collection. It's called Root Awakening. I get the nourishing moisture Shampoo for Dry hair. It is in a green bottle/tube looking thing. I let my daughter use some when her's ran out she LOVES it. Now I am buying it for both of us they also have some for Breakage prone hair called Strength and Restoring Shampoo for Breakage prone hair. I alternate between the two. It has been a lifesaver. They also have conditioners to match. I bought one of the conditioners and two different shampoos. Daughter borrows it too. She likes it as well. Good luck...try to drink plenty. I know when I am not drinking enough my hair is really dry too.
Nothing tastes as good as this feels!

You can also try a sulfite free shampoo like Wen or Hair One.  I use it to protect my color but it is very gentle and also is great for dry hair.

1/hot oil treatment
2/do you have an egg? after you shampoo your hair with a shampoo specifically to treat hair breakage-rinse and condition as usual. after rinsing the conditioner out of your hair, whip the egg with a fork or whisk. apply to your hair for 10 minutes with a plastic cap and no heat. rinse with lukewarm water.
you will get heat from your scalp and head and this will do. the egg will help add a great amount of protein to your har.
that and the hot oil treatment every 2 weeks should produce results.

also, I know people tend to say "root" when they are speaking of new hair growth. the root is under the scalp and the new growth is just that, new growth. the root like a plant needs to be treated well. one taking lots of meds, smoking or eating junk can also cause dry and brittle hair. this can also happen to one's nails.
