Now Roz, I'm originally a country girl!

Believe it or not, I grew up on a small ranch and had to milk goats everyday before school.  When I moved away from home I was so hoping that I left that life behind me!  But as I get older I am more appreciative of home-grown goodness and I'm willing to put on my rubber boots for good quality, organic food!  Plus DH and DD brought home the cutest little chicks and I couldn't refuse...so now we have backyard chickens.  At least I'm in the country and on 1/2 acre so my neighbors don't care too much.

My next door neighbor in Brooklyn used to keep her Roo  in the basement  !  TOO  TOO  funny ...  that guy  never STOPPED  crowing  .....

YOU should have  seen the TURKEY  she brought home .... about four feet tall like an OSTRICH  running around I KID U NOT   in a  19  foot by 25 foot yard lol !    ya gottta  hand it to people  with soft hearts..... who wont stand to see animals suffering  and would rather open up their own home  .

That said Im SURE your roosters have had a wonderful life  compared to most  chickens   ... ( dont forget domestic animals  could NEVER  survive in  the wild without man ...  )   and you've done a wonderful thing raising meat  animals humanely and sensitively and healthily ..... go Bekah   ..   U ROCK  GRRL
