Scared for tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the first time I meet with my surgeon one on one. It's also the day I schedule my surgery. I don't know why I am so scared, I'm confident in my decision. I guess it all feels so real to me. I have decided I want to have VSG, my original paperwork from my seminar says I was interested in RNY. I'm worried he will say he doesn't agree with my choice, or I don't know what. I'm sure I'm going crazy, which I am sure is normal. I just needed to tell someone, and get it out there.

It's probably the unknown that is esp making you nervous.  Try to relax and take comfort in knowing you are moving towards the best and healthiest you can be!

The fear of the unknown. Make sure you write down any questions you have so you dont forget while you are talking with the doc.
Good luck, and take a deep breath!
Congrats to you on your journey.

It is scarey!!!! You will do just great -- take good notes and take someone with you if you can. If not, no big deal. Once you have that date time will fly.

Good luck!!!! Meg

Make sure you know your Tricare coverage if you're using it. I know it covers RNY and band but I'm not sure about the VSG. (I'm jumping to conclusions that you're military) If you're having it done at the MTF, it may not matter since you bypass Tricare.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Tricare will not cover VSG if it is through a civilian surgeon. I'm lucky to have it offered through the MTF I'm going through. I have friends that have had it done at other MTFs that the sleeve was not an option. I feel very lucky.

Thank you everyone. I already have a list of questions to ask my surgeon, and will take lots of notes. I'm ready to get this going.

It does seem a lot more real once you have a date.  You will be fine.  Discuss with him the reasons for either RNY or sleeve and decide which is right for you.  I was doing sleeve but my insurance wouldn't pay so I changed.  My surgeon was fine with it.  No biggie.
