Hi Jenny
I like the Muscle milk light. It took me about an hour and a half to get through it, but I tolerate it pretty well.
I can't imagine the magnesium citrate...I had that pre-op, and it upset my stomach then. I can't imagine now. If you like cottage cheese, can you puree it in your blender? That would make it the consistency of yogurt, which you can eat.
Take care

I'm sorry to say this but she sounds like a complete moron. There is no way that commercial baby food is a good thing to be eating right now unless it's all you can eat. It has way too much salt and often too much sugar. Making your own is much healthier. And pudding is junk. Sure, when it's all you can eat, it's fine but it's not better for you than pureed meat! Cottage cheese is an excellent food source when still on soft food as it's full of protein. It's defintely better for you than baby food.
This is what my program recommends:
< 800 calories a day
< 40 g of carbs
< 30 g of fat
> 70 g of protein (more is better)
For foods, we do "thin" liquids for 2-3 weeks, then "softs" for 2-3 weeks then after that you can have ANYTHING as long as you can tolerate it. We are to avoid foods with a lot of sugar or fats early out. Avoid processed stuff too.
For the progression from all protein shakes to food and as many shakes as you want, they recommend starting out with replacing a shake at a time with a meal. Then, once you are eating 3 meals (or 3 meals and a snack), start subsituting out the rest of the protein shakes with non-calorie fluid as your meals and snacks get bigger and you are getting more and more protein from food.
This is so much easier to follow than programs that have long lists of what you can eat when and arbitrary rules about what to eat. We can't eat to those rules forever. We have to find our own path. So I think it's much better to start with some very generic rules that let you experiment and figure out what works for you than with a strict set of rules that aren't going to work in the long run.
And, my program has excellent weight loss results, better than the averages in most studies. So it's not like these rules don't work for lots and lots of people!

thanks for much for adding this! what a big help! and, thats exactly what i was thinking about the baby food! they put so much "other stuff" in there, that it would be better to make your own pureed stuff. unless they are afraid of what price was talking about; those who would cook high fat stuff and puree that. yikes.
i'm REALLY enjoying reading about others plans. it's very interesting to me right now. today, though s the day i do a little branching. i'm cleared for "soft foods" so am excited to take it one food and one bite at a time! i think i'm wanting eggs. though i'm leery since i have read about others experiences with those devils! soft is good, i know. maybe scrambled with a cheese soup drizzle on top... hubby has been eating eggs all week and i'm jealous and crazed right now! it's still early. if i have a problem it wont mess up my WHOLE day- i hope!
one bite at a time, chew, chew, chew to much, and a ginger swallow...
