Freaking Out About My Blood Sugar

Sugar alcohols affect me even tho' they claim not to. You seem to be sensitive to them as well. You need to find another protein shake without them, if possible. I hope to be having surgery later this year and I will ned to know which to purchase. Call your Dr. on Monday. 311 is high but not enough to send you into a diabetic coma or anything. I deal with numbers like this daily unfortunately.
Good luck!

I sent an email to the NP so I should hear something Monday.  Blood sugar has been normal for the rest of the day.  I even checked it after a low carb dinner and it was about 125.  I may try the shake without the sugar free sauce and see if that makes a difference.

Interesting discussion on sugar alcohols. I'll have to do more research on this. As far as the blood sugar, hopefully, it is a faulty meter or strips, and a regular blood test will show something different. Keep us posted.

I used to check my blood sugar before meals and at bedtime.
Blood sugar should spike after eating, these reading are called post prandial.
300's is high for someone without diabetes history. Normal range could be up to 180 after a meal. (for someone without diabetes)
Call the doc and get checked out. Stress makes glucose readings higher.
I do not think its your shake.
Do you use an alcohol wipe on your finger or spot where you check? If alcohol remains, it will elevate your level.
This could explain why you have been so thirsty.

Okay, now that I deleted the other one that was making the thread look funny, I will post it again as a reply to this one.

Can't find the protein nutrition facts but look and see if any *ose is in the list of ingedients.

Now, I had a thought later after I posted this the first time...it very well could be sugar alcohols...and if you don't want to use the real stuff, try stevia...(not the trevia) but the real plant, stevia...you can even grow and process your own.

If that doesn't work real sugar or going without sound like your only options.

A bit of an update.  I made my shake tonight without the sugar free sauces.  I used sugar free syrup instead, along with the Calorie Countdown milk and 2 scoops of my protein powder.  I tested my blood sugar after 30 minutes and it was 215.  Lower then before but not much.
I sent an email to the NP so I will see what she says.
