A lot of folks are without power and phones this morning and many more are getting their first tastes of the storm this morning. Please check in as you can. I hope you and your families are well. Will continue to swing lizards.

Im here !   internet  , Tv  electric  , water working .    Storm is  also busily working flattening the trelisses in the garden    .

So far the 5  buckets of flashing tar i  spread on the seams of the roof are holding -    YAY

My cousin   Laurie down about   50  miles inland  from  Wilmington North Carolina  hasn't been so lucky though .  Her power's been out since   the night before last and the poor Grrls ready  to burn  a CHAIR   to make coffee she says ...

Nothing  like a caffeine headache im such an addict too  !

The rain  has been falling hard and nonstop  since  the middle of the  night but  so far no tornadoes   which is a GREAT thing .   We had yet another TORNADO warning here  in Bay Ridge in the middle of the hurricane last night !!  talk about a double whammy !

I  never knew that  Bay Ridge could be  the new Tornado Alley but since we had that first big one that  ripped the roofs off my neighbors' houses  2 years ago  and left them staring at the sky  from their beds (  not one block away )  ... they've been landing here REGULARLY  .

Skylights go  flying , tree limbs break off  - even big trees fall  ....so  im REAL glad we made it through this warning which ended at 5 AM .

Stay safe, Ava. With population densities like we have on along the East coast, it's good that people stay put.

I think we are at the tail of it in NJ as it heads into  NYC. Scarey night with added Tornado warrnings.  But we are in tact and still have power.  I do not see any damage thus far but have not been outside.

Continue to be safe everyone!!

I, I'm in New York City (up in the north part, where there were no evacuations).  Everything is normal in the Bronx, where I live.  Power, water, cable, etc. all ok.  Wind and rain less spectacular than anticipated!  I even paid to have the air conditioner pulled out of my window and I'm not sure it was worth it.  The "eye" is supposed to hit in the next half hour, but I don't see anything dramatic happening.

According to the NYC news, only minor flooding and some wind damage in Manhattan.

We escaped!
