DS for lightweight
It could very well be a good option. You might start doing some research for DS surgeons and other info on WWW.dsfacts.com . I'm on my phone at work but I'd like to talk more this evening when I get home.

Mommytotw0,
I also have the DS...no problems getting approved for the DS as I was wearing an insulin pump...however, finding a surgeon to do it was a bit of an effort...esp since there are not many listed on dsfacts and I was mandated by my insurance to stay in my own state.
My weight was 205/BMI was a 35.2 signing into surgery (I'm 5'4")... I am just coming up on my one year and have lost down to 130.
If you find a DS surgeon who is hesitant, make sure you know everything you can about the DS and why you would be a good fit medically. Also be willing to adjust the common channel if they don't want to go with the typical 100 cc. Mine is 175 and while losing is slower, it is happening.
Keep asking questions...it's worth the effort. But whatever you decide is up to you. Just be sure your doctor is open to all major types and doesn't try to convince you another is right for you unless you decide it is.

Thank you Gina and Liz. Great advice. Actually I am in the inital steps of this. I will be attending a seminar next week that is done by the surgeon I am considering. It sounds like he does many WLS, but prefers DS. He's Dr. Anthone in Omaha NE. I hope to receive lots of information at the seminar and go from there.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my questions! I appreciate it greatly!!!!

DS for lightweights is certainly an option. My BMI is 38ish and will be going to Belgium in March to get the lap DS. The best thing to do is research all the WLS options to see what is best for you. I believe the DS is right for me because it has the best long term results, the pyloric valve is not removed, I can drink wiht my meals, no dumping, its the best for resolving comorbids and you can maintain at a higher caloric intake. The down side is taking vitamins, lots of vitamins for life and bood work. Personally I dont mind taking vitamins or getting lots of blood work.
