I'm a little hungry

Is this normal?  I thought I wasn't supposed to be hungry for awhile.  I'm on full liquids.  I've had 48 ounces of water, 2 servings of 2 oz of tomato soup, a string cheese and 2 oz of yogurt.  I'm not starving but I am feeling like I need to eat.  I just thought I'd check with the experts.

We were told to expect head hunger. Maybe it's that. It's about the right timing for it.

I wondered about that.  I'm bored at home alone.  So you may be right.

Yep, head hunger.  I had it for a small time....think I got mommy timeout a couple evenings for head hunger, and a little hormonal craziness.  :)  Keep busy, rest, walk, sip...repeat.
Your doing great.

It does take a little while before the "I'm not hungry" stage starts.  You are probably just craving real food.  It's hard to remember but I think it took a couple of weeks.

I felt "empty" the first few weeks....not real hunger but could tell my pouch was empty.    I actually would sometimes have a sugar free mint with me and that often helped.  I would also drink and that would help too.  I will be honest though...I started feeling REAL hunger early out.   There is a blessing in this in that I also felt fullness too.  What I struggle with is I am often hungry every 2-3 hrs as I still have a good amount of restriction.  I struggle though as I am afraid that I am eating too many calories.  I eat protein focused meals and get 120-150 grams of proten a day (I still do several protein drinks a day which helps).

I guess what I am saying is: you may be starting to feel some hunger.  One thing that helps me determine is if it is hunger.....if I am satisfied eating ANYTHING then this is often real hunger.  If I crave something, maybe this is head hunger.  Most people who get WLS do not feel hunger for some time....but there are some of us that do experience it early out (like youI did NOT expect this!).

Hang in there....drink some broth, small amts of protein shakes, etc and see if it helps.  I was on liquids for 3 weeks post surgery which is different from yours.

Good luck!!!!

Couple of thoughts...
the carbs in the tomato may be triggering the feeling of hunger. Try a different kind maybe broc and cheese?

You may be dehydrated and need more fluid. Dehydration mimics hinger. Try to up the fluid and see if that helps. Plus drinking gives us something to think about whaan we are bored.

Excess acid mimics hunger. Are you on a PPI like Nexium? if  so youy may need a change to another,a larger dose, more oses a day. if not ask your surgeon for one. You can have acid reflux and have no symptoms at all.
Hang in there.

In addition,if you feel  hungry and these concerns are not an issue, then have more soup, yogurt and string cheese. you really can't overeat on the right things at this point.

Thanks!  You all have had some great ideas!  I am on a PPI and I'm drinking 64 oz of water not counting my "meals".  It's probably boredom mixed with a little real hunger for solid food.  I will stay on track and talk to my surgeon if it gets worse.  I am going to a support group tomorrow night and will bring it up there as well.  I also will schedule an appointment with a therapist that deals with food issues.  Thanks again for the support!

Are you drinking protein shakes?  I feel so full with just 1/2 a shake.
I do get the head hunger sometimes- usually triggered by a smell.  If I drink water it usually passes. Hang in there- it really helps when you can eat more solid foodsd.

Very early out, like you are, we could "eat" every 2 hours.  So 8 "meals" a day was possible.  That included our 2 oz of something like creamed soups, yogurt, or a protein shake.  Knowing you could eat again soon enough made a difference in my feeling about hunger.

Even now, if I think I am hungry and it hasn't been 3 hrs, it usually goes away if I have something to drink.

I didn't really feel hungry early out but did feel empty.  It didn't take much to fill me up.

We were allowed creamed soups but not tomato because of the sugar in it.  You might try chicken or mushroom instead and see if that makes any difference.  Also, is there fruit or sugar in your yogurt?
