NSV: First round of new clothes

The drawstring yoga pants I wore to the hospital were comfortably loose.  They fit and looked ok.  They are now falling off and looking terrible.  I ordered some new ones from Walmart.com. My favorite pants still fit, thank goodness.  However most of others do not.  I've decided to wear scrubs to work during this rapid weight loss period.  They are cheap and I can get 2-3 dress sizes out of the larges and mediums I think.  I am going to the thrift store to see what I can find.  I will miss dressing up for work, but I can't afford a new wardrobe every 2 months.  Luckily it's my choice; dress clothes or scrubs.

Let the thrift store shopping begin! Good idea to plan this phase out. It can be expensive if you don't know how to manage it.

You'll be amazed how great you look in your new clothes. I always keep a pair of good fitting jeans to keep my morale up!

I still hate shopping, but I love new clothes. It is a great feeling when you get in new sizes. I think scrubs are a good plan while you are losing.

Funny, I still head for the plus sizes when I go shopping. DH will look at me and say, "You can't wear that stuff. Go to your size!" I'll pull clothes off the rack and think, "My butt won't fit in that." Often I can't wear it because it is too big!!! Some shopping days are better than others.

Keep up the good work!

I agree with hitting the thrift stores. Great place to get some gently used clothing. But it doesn't hurt to check in at a few stores as well, once you are out of the plus sizes it's amazing to find what kind of sales the others stores have. I bought shirts at Old Navy 2 weeks ago, for 97 cents each.

Shirts can look good through a longer transition. Pants not so much. I always have at least one pair of good fitting jeans. I am totally willing to admit that I bought a brand new pair of size 10 jeans just after Christmas, because they were a size 10! ( I started out in a 24). But it felt good. I am getting closer to goal, so the weight isn't coming off as fast now, so I may make those jeans last until March. Still a better buy than some of the food rewards I used to give myself!

I still love shopping at thrift stores, in fact, I didn't really go into them until after I lost my weight.  I've picked up some very very very good deals from them - name brand jeans for a few dollars (including Goodwill). That's why closet is busting at the seams...

Smart decision to go that route - I know I spent a LOT of money on clothes that didn't fit for long.  I had to dress up for work everyday so it was tough trying to figure out what would and wouldn't fit, and for how long.

i have a dynamite wardrobe these days and all of it was either thrift store or big sales.  I love my thrift store stuff and getting to dress in brands that I could never afford new.  In my area, there are several thrift stores and I find some are better than others for one thing or another.  Right now, I have way too many clothes because I kept picking up stuff when I found it.  But I'm not planning on changing sizes anymore so it won't go to waste.

Congrats! I LOVE shopping at thrift stores too! I have found some great buys & I turn in my old clothes and sometimes I have shopped for free!!!

I need to get some new jeans as the first pair I have purchased are getting too big. I love them so much. It is great to see the sizes get smaller. I cannot believe it. I, too, go towards the plus sizes still and have to remind myself where I need to start to look. Ha!

I wear scrubs too - and our hospital is changing uniform color so I'm not buying until they come out in june/july. Some of them are about to fall off!!!
