Rethinking my goal
What I've noticed is those with larger frames are able to weigh more but wear smaller sizes because more of their weight is in the bones while smaller framed people have more fat if they are the same height and weight. What is so different about this surgery is the way our bodies lose. I have been this weight in the past, but I never wore this size. I did not wear this size in junior high. I always wore several sizes larger. It is interesting to see how lean I became this time versus than in years past.
You may be very surprised once you lose your weight - I know I have been. In 2004 I was only 14 pounds heavier than now, but I wore a size 10...8 if it was vanity sized, and I bought it strictly for the size regardless how ugly it was. But after WLS I became way more lean this time.

Bingo on the bone structure making a difference!
But also, sizes have seriously changed since I was in high school, and I think you're about my age.
At that time, I weighed about 125 and wore a size 12/14, depending on manufacturer.
I currently weigh (as of today) 137 (so almost back where I want to be!), and wear a size 2/4, again depending on manufacturer.
HOWEVER - I have 2 belts that I wore in HS on hip-hugger jeans (as we called them then). I loved those belts (one was a gift from a boyfriend who did Civil War re-enactments and has a replica buckle), and never got rid of them, even when they barely made it half way around me.
I now wear them, in the same holes, on low-cut jeans.
It's not me that's different, it's the sizing.

Absolutely true. Sizes are not what they once were. That is why I stay away from Juniors because I don't want a reality check. Even now I will find something I like, but I have to buy a size 10. I then take a psychological hit.
I have noticed I've never been this lean. In 2004 I did not weigh too much more than this. This time this weight loss has impacted my body very differently..
That is great you have those belts. I am very nostalgic. Nothing ever really goes out of style.

I always thought that since I have a bigger bone structure I wouldn't be able to get down into those lower sizes. I still think if I wear a size 4/6 I'll be dead! I think I'll have to get down there and see what my body does to be convinced! On this issue, seeing is believing for me!
I have twin sisters who are a year and a half younger than I am and have always been a healthy weight and cute and slim. I would definitely consider it a personal victory to be able to swap clothes with them! That's a goal I have never even dreamed of considering. Their bone structures and heights are not that much smaller than mine, so maybe? I'll just have to wait and see!

That's so interesting! I haven't heard anyone say that before. It will be very interesting when I get to goal to see where I am size wise. I have heard some people say that they think that clothes have gotten bigger as a whole at all sizes. Do you think that's true?
Oops! Just read up and you and Rebecca have been talking about just this issue.

LOL! Great minds think alike! This topic comes up all the time, and makes me so glad I saved those belts!!

It IS true, sizes have changed and not for the better.

In 1984 when I left the USArmy, I kept my uniform...it was a size 14. I weighed right at 150 lbs back then. I now weigh 123 and wear a small/medium top and a size 0-6 depending on who makes it. But I tried on that uniform about a month ago and it BARELY fit me...So yes, they have changed considerably. And the more expensive the clothing, the smaller the size. It makes women feel better to be in a size 2 or 4 rather than a 10 or 12 that they would have been 25 years ago.
So if you buy vintage clothing, always buy larger sizes and try it on before buying if possible.
