Greetings from low bmi'er
Don't worry... although they don't advertise the fact, if you are a BMI of 30+ and self-pay, many US surgeons will accept you.

You sound alot like me.......I'm a 57 yr old female, 5'7" and 220 lbs. I've lost and gained so many times......it makes a person want to give up totally. But I'm not a quitter and tomorrow I have my final Dr visit as well as the dietitian visit to go over my pre-op diet. I'm scheduled for VSG on December 26th, 2012. Scared, excited and so want to get the surgery over so I can get on with my new life.
I've had hip replacements and that improved my life immensely. My knees are starting to go so I can't wait for the VSG surgery. I'm hoping that with the weight loss, my knees will stop giving me fits. It can't be good for them to have an extra 70-80 pounds weighing them down.
Because my BMI is so "low" (34 ish) I am a self pay. I think this will be worth every penny.
