Support Group
Welcome to the group!
Heh, I got that reaction from several people, mostly family who "thought" they were being helpful. . .I had a ton of comorbidities, and I am also a diabetic, which is another reason I had RNY, but no one could "see" that so I got some unwanted opinions :)

Welcome!
Fear of hearing just that kept me from going to the information seminar for a couple months that my surgeons requires before he'll see you in the office. I was so scared I'd be laughed out of there... and yes, I probably was the smallest person there as far as teh pre-ops went, and I think I'm probably the smallest person there still. There will be insensitive people in any group (well, i think except for here) but remember, that probably stems from them dealing with being a lot larger than you and finally willing to do something about it, and maybe wishing they had tried when they were closer to your size. Might not be the case for all people, but hey, jealousy makes us all catty.
One of the most surreal experiences I had at IRL group was when someone asked me what surgery I had and how long ago. When I told them RNY (not sure when it was, maybe 6 months out?) they said "It doesn't look like you needed that surgery!" (whatever) and i turned back to her and said, "well I guess it worked!" and she hasn't said anything to me since.
Remember people will always have opinions they can't keep to themselves, but your choice is back by a doctor and you know what you are doing
