I think U are right being scared of the bypass though it DOES work wonders with chronic hiatal hernia repairs ( did for me ) .  But your average RNY just takes and keeps off a litle bit of weight ... and the  malabsorption stops after two years .  But there ARE other RNYS .  

 

My husband has a twelve year old distal bypass that has allowed him to lose and keep off 150  lbs plus .  He refuses to  exercise and everything he eats is wrong... still his weight is holding and  hes healthy excepting HBP and diabetes .   If i were you this is the operation I would consider . 

Basically  it acts as a DS ... he eats a DS type menu with  malabsorption of fats ...
