Good Morning. Last minute shopping

I still have people on my list that I haven't shopped for. {sigh}  Is it totally tacky to get them gift cards to Amazon?  I'm just not getting into the gift giving thing for family I rarely see and never talk to. I also don't want them to think they need to get us anything. We get what we need or want throughout the year.

To me this year has been more about gifting folks I adopt through an angel tree or because I really want to just because I can and they don't expect it. I guess I'm trying to keep Christmas special and not obligatory--you know what I mean?

I do Heifer for those kind of folks.  I really don't want ANYONE buying me stuff just to be giving me something.  That is so wasteful and I certainly don't need more STUFF anyway.  If there is something I need, I buy it.  The rest I am working to get rid of, not gain more.  I love Heifer.  They are easy, you can do as much or as little as you want, they do ecards or you can send real cards, whatever.  And I love the idea behind the cause itself.

I've got to do groceries today but it is too cold and windy to do much else outside.  I'm not even looking forward to feeding the ponies/donkeys this morning because of the cold and wind.  I'll cover up good but it still won't be comfortable.

LOL, being broke does wonders...I just told everyone we were broke this year and to focus on the grandkids. II do have some things for dh and I for our stockings but not much...just a wee bit to have so we have something on Christmas Day. I also have been baking to take south with me to the kids. And then packing it to stay out of it.

I think gift cards are appropriate.

We have gotten so far away from the meaning of Christmas. I would love if someone made a donation to our free community meal we do weekly at our church, or the city mission. or sponsored a child in my name. I have been blessed with more than enough.I keep trying to instill these ideas into my family, but they just dont get it. Which I can understand, because they dont get why I volunteer and give my time away. They dont understand, that I receive way more back than what I give.

I love the idea of an angel tree.

Need to get a couple of things myself today. Its going to be tough, I  will try to smile and be kind through the crowds today.

I think it depends on whom you ate buying for. I gift card my farrier for his favorite steak house which happens to be my brother's favorite too so I get him one as well. One sister in law is very ummmm lazy and claims she can't cook so I bake for them and they get a gift card for IHOP. My teenager asked for gift cards for Aeropostle, FYE and ITunes.
