Multiple food smells make me sick

It happened again!!  I made my dish to pass and went up to Mom's with the family.  Within 20 minutes of being in her house my nose was running and I felt I was going to be sick to my stomach.  I hadn't eaten anything yet, it is the smell of all the different foods cooking at the same time.  I am the youngest of 8, 5 of us and our families were there for Christmas so there is a lot of food.

 Same thing happened at Thanksgiving, except it was warmer out so I sat out on the front porch instead of going home.  This is making family gatherings something I dread.  ALL my family gatherings are about FOOD!!!  At least I just live down the road so DH and the boys stayed there and ate. 

Does this happen to others?  If it  happened to you did it diminish or go away over time?

It does sound like an over sensitivity similar to what people have when they're first post-op. I hope these episodes pass soon.

Thanks Gina, I hope they go away soon too.  But on the bright side, I definitely won't overeat when feeling that way.

Not me.  I remember early out food smelling wonderful, but having absolutely no desire to eat anything.  My sister came and cooked for DH and DS and it smelled great, I just wanted no part of it.  But nothing made me sick.

Everything changes and I would assume that will change too for you.  Sorry it hampers you being with your family.  Maybe by next year it will be ok.

Thanks for the reply Price.  When DH or I cook at home I am fine.  It is the quantity of odors at the same time that get to me.  Next time is Easter, wait and see I guess.
