New Here - Hello
Welcome to the LW board.
Who you tell is entirely up to you, altho you do need one IRL support person in your corner if possible.

I'm not planning to tell anyone either, though many people will know that I'm having surgery. I will tell them it's for my GERD and will repair hiatal hernia and LES. Even my husband isn't entirely clear on what the surgery is, though he hasn't really asked. I've only told him it will fix my esophagus and help me lose weight.
He is 6'3" and weighed 305 and people still told him "You' re not that big, you don't need that surgery." So I guess if you don't weigh like 400 pounds no one will understand why you want the surgery.
Very few people know I'm planning on having the surgery because I don't want to hear any negative comments. I probably won't have all the prep s for surgery completed until March so I'll tell family then.
