my first "bad" food day yesterday
I keep telling myself that it was just one incident and that I can work it off, but I can't stop thinking about how I sabotaged myself.
Please tell me I'm not alone and that some of you have had a momentary lapse in judgement.
It happens...
Now - since you felt so much guilt - that is really a very good thing! Next time you're faced with the temptation you'll remember how badly you felt.
Just don't let it become a slippery slope where you tell yourself "hey I did it last time and it didn't hurt me and I still lost weight" as that is a sabotoge mindset. That's where a lot of people go wrong...
I'm glad you posted about it - that is what this is all about - being able to admit it and move on!

You know, normal weight people EAT desserts, they just do not eat much at one time or even that often! In fact my normal weight brother in law eats far more junk than I would ever consider eating. And he is skinny...5'10" and about 145 soaking wet! I have a normal weight cousin who loves desserts, just just uses them as treats.
Okay so you had some cookies...it's NOT a bad food but an unwise choice. NO food is bad, just many are not wise options and we don't always control the amount. The only part you really shouldn't do is the raw cookie dough...altho that's my favorite part too.

I had a horrible food day yesterday. maybe there was something in the air. Cookies, ice cream (first since surgery), bread, yep, horrible. But today, I am back on track. In fact I am having a no carb day (kind of). At least I am only having good carbs from dairy and veggies. Although I do get off track, it is easier to get back on the wagon and coming here is a great way to stay accountable.

There is no such thing as bad food.
The trick is to have rules that let you have enough to make you happy while still meeting your goals. Then you only have to beat yourself up if you break the rules, not every time you eat something fun.
Though personally I think beating ourselves up about food choices just wastes energy. I don't it really changes behavior and I think having healthy self-esteem makes it easier to maintain your weight. So I work really hard not to do it. It's hard and I don't always succeed but it's the goal.
