Hi everyone...

My vitamin d is extremely low. My doc recommends 5000iu once a day, but I know Vitalady recommends more. What do you think? Gina? Anyone? I definitely have symptoms.

Get to vitalady.com now and order the D3 50, which is 50,000 iu of dry D.  I would start with at least one a day and retest in about 3 months.  5,000 iu is too little for you at your level.  Most people are deficient in D so it isn't unusual, but D2 isn't as well absorbed for us and the prescription D is pretty much useless.  You need the big guns and you won't find D3 50,000 iu in any store.  I can only buy it from Vitalady or Amazon.

At one point my D was practically undetectable.  I got  it up to over 80 and my NP freaked out.  She said she never saw a WLS patient with such a high level of D.  I was taking D3 50 daily and I cut back to weekly and I have been maintaining my D at about 70-80 since then.  I wanted to go higher then 80 but she kind of scared me with the talk of toxicity so I think I am doing okay.  I've heard others say to keep it over 80 but my lab's range is 30-80 so it may be using a different way of measurement then other labs.

dry forum D3. can't reach toxicty (unless you can push that D 25 hydroxy over 750 or so)

D2 CAN go toxic, or in theory it could, if anyone absorbed it well. No one does, but with us, there's not enough absorption to help us, so you know there's not enough to hurt us.

My endo is using an old scale of 20-50 and he wants me D 25 at 50. Um, NO. I want it at 100, give or take. My first was 91 (that he saw), and after months of being ill (nothing to do with my WLS or type of WLS), it dropped to 72. He's happy, I'm not, but anything over 70 is ok if it keeps him off my back. We agreed to live it at 70-80, like as if we can fine tune it that much! LOL

Just remember that dry form D3 CANNOT become toxic. Got it?

Doesn't store up in the liver. It is a fat soluble vitamin, but in a water soluble form.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

Thank you!  She had me scared by saying that.  I am keeping mine between 70 and 80 but it's good to know that nothing bad will happen if it goes over 80.  The real surprise to me was that she had never seen a D so high when it was 87.  I am sure they haven't with the lousy post op advice they give.
