Surprised myself today - my newest NSV!
So I have been feeling under the weather and really haven't had the energy to get on the treadmill at all. I voiced to my son that I felt like crap to which he replied, "Mama, when's the last time you went for a run?" I told him that I had been trying all week, but that I just didn't have the energy to get it done. He just grinned and walked back to his room. So what do I do? I think about it, get my running shoes on with the intent of just going for a walk. I figured a 30-minute walk would do me some good.
Well it started off as a walk... for about 5 minutes. Then I upped the speed on the treadmill and started running. I went 10 minutes and then brought it back down to a brisk walk. After another 5 minutes I picked it back up and started running again. I ended up doing this for an hour. Instead of having lunch, I went for a walk/run! Then I surprised myself. I knew I was capable of running a 14:15 minute/mile. Today, after plugging in my numbers, my walk/run came to an average pace of 16:15. I had covered 3.69 miles. All I can do is smile right now. To think, not even 6 months ago I was still laying in the bed recovering from my last surgery. I was still in so much pain and seriously questioning why I went through with the initial surgery to begin with. Now I'm just beaming with pride!
Well, off to get my daughter from school...
Woo hoo. Kids, they are something aren't they!!! Well, I know the thought of getting out, walking, to the gym, whatever is sometimes hard but it I can push through that and get going, I love it. When I was running (a hundred years ago) I alway ran first thing in the morning. sometimes I would wake up and it would be raining. the thought of running in the rain was so depressing but once out there, I loved it and it was very invigorating. glad he got you going and you bumped it up. good for you.

Yeah, even though my son is almost 20 yrs old, he's still very close to me. He knows me all too well. It's funny. You know I hadn't run in years, since I was 18 yrs old. Then last Sept I just decided to give running a try again. I loved every bit of it. I'm planning on running in my first 5K before the end of the year. I just haven't decided on which one yet.
Hooah!!! Great NSV!
