Grazing -how not to

Heres a few tips that have seemed to work for me when i needed to loseweight or just slow my role with the eating lol .
1) A morning workout , preferably running . A body that suspects its gonna be in motion TOMORROW like it was today is not likely to put out hormones telling you to pick up extra insulation. Its easiest when I do the exercise first thing when I get up ....have everything laid out and it really helps me plan my day out mentally too I've found .
2) Often when i want to snack when i am not hungry what i really am looking for the relaxing feeling provided by a glass or half-glass of red wine .
The Mediterranean diet recommends seven or more glasses of red wine per week . I eat a lot less when i am having a bit of wine . I have indulged in wine and the occasional beer since i had my surgery some 4 years ago and my health and vitamin levels are great ... nor do I make an ass of myself in public lol .
3) I've learned to turn the tv on and or to read without snacking ! That took a LONG time ! And I keep healthy snacks around and eat them first ( my favorite now are those little muticolored peppers ... they last FOREVER ... theyre very sweet crunchy and healthy tasting ... and two fill up my pouch perfectly . I don't even need hummus with em though i usually have some in the fridge . I also like to make a tzaziki type dip with fat free Greek yogurt , a bit of garlic and cucumber and dill ....
4) Getting a grip on the eating by going clothes shopping also works . You very quickly come out of your overeating-justification denial when you have a belly roll over the size jeans you think you should be lol...
5) as a last resort salt free plain air popped popcorn really works well . Among other things its a WARMING food which means if I get chilled outside it really helps my inner core warm up fast .
6) Soup and Vegetable filled fat free stirfries made at home are also terrifically filling and calorically tiny . I love brown rice n beans too ... and brown rice sushi ... and am generally very careful not to use any fat because that makes everything into " real food " calorie wise . Its super easy to substitute chicken stock in stir fry recipes instead of oil...
Very good advice! Everyone was spot on - including the wine - lol... well... maybe... I find when I drink alcohol I go for the snacks. My best judgement isn't rearing it's smart head at that point...
I love the multi-colored peppers. Last night at dinner (made a garlic parmesan encrusted tilapia) my granddaughter was eating them out of a bowl and just loves them. She was at daycare and all the other kids were eating a cookie - she wanted her peppers.
My daughter used brown rice noodles in a spaghetti dish last week. You couldn't tell it wasn't real spaghetti and was very good.
When I'm cold (and need the warming food) I make the diet hot chocolate and mix a scoop of chocolate protein with it - yummy! Warms me right to the core.
Thanks for the much needed reminders of what it takes!

I graze because I can't get enough in otherwise. So I eat about every 2 hours.
My workout is getting from the bed to the kitchen without stepping on any cats or dogs!
My dh has one beer a day (and plans for those carbs). I do not drink...I am literally allergic to alcohol. I get a bad reaction when I do...haven't had any since Dec 1999. It's not that I don't want it...I would love to have wine sometimes...just do not want the physical reaction.
Most of my grazing is protein...yogurt or shrimp or deli ham rolled up.
I use to love popcorn but thanks to my jaw surgery it and nuts are no longer options.
Did you know that brown rice has a higher incidence of arsenic than white rice? Both have it but because brown still has the hull, more is left in it.
Fat is NOT the enemy. For anyone EXCEPT a DS'er...about 30 grams a day is what you need for good health. DS'ers need 5 times as much due to the way we malabsorb. But make it good for you fats like olive oil.
