Counceling re: food. I hear so many folks say they didn't realize all their issues until after surgery. It is so important to at least begin that process because as we all know, they do surgery on our tummies, not our brains.

2. Pre-op: read everything on here, constantly. Doctors do their best to give you guidelines but they haven't walked the walk. Knowledge is power, reduces anxiety, and improves success.
Find a protein powder you like.
3. Post-op: don't shoot me!- don't listen to the traditional nutritionist. Mine told me to maintain a typical diet in smaller form. Nope. Protein. Veggies. There you have it. Of course I had other things at times but I wasn't eating lots of brown rice and watermelon. Pay attention to the food people post for their meals.
Your right. i think when Dr's plans include mashed potatoes and cream of wheat early out, folks think those things are fine because they are losing like gang busters anyway. However, they are not our friend once we get several months out. protein and veggies is where it is at.

1. What is blooming in your yard / area these days? Roses!! I love roses and this is the best year we have had in a long time! I have pink, yellow, red/white, purple, and peach. I have rose bushes and trees. DH got me a Rose of Sharon tree for Mother's Day that's doing good and I can't wait for it to start blooming. I'm not sure what color it's going to be but I'm hoping for purple.
2. What is your best advice for someone pre-op? Break bad habits BEFORE surgery (smoking, carbonated drinks, drinking with meals). Research the types of WLS's and pick the one that is best for your type of eating and your lifestyle (even if you have to travel to a Surgeon out of town). After you decide, read and ask questions and learn as much as you can. SAVE at least one "fat" outfit for a reminder (it's fun). Take a before picture and your measurements (we lose inches even when the scale doesn't show it)
3. What is your best advice for someone post-op? The most important thing....Find a support group!!! The LW's are mine and they have been with me every step of the way). Buy a small dinner plate and use it (I bought myself a Mickey Mouse plate...makes me smile). Don't believe everything your NUT tells you...take notes from those who have experienced WLS. Find a Protein drink that you can tolerate and enjoy (it took me 6 months) and don't give up until you find one. DON'T spend a fortune on clothes on the way down....you are wasting your money!!!! We drop sizes way to fast and hit goal to quickly to go into debt buying clothes that we are going to have to give away.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
