Fear of Failure

If you aren't required to lose weight before surgery then I would say skip the diet (except what you need to do right before surgery) and just try to prepare for your surgery. (Eat a big piece of chocolate cake for me) The chance of you having sever hunger is about zero.  At almost 5 years out I still take my Prilosec and if I skip it a few days my tummy rumbles like it is hungry but it is still rare for me to be hungry and if I am a few bites satisfy me.

Work on your future journey. Change some of the habits (things Linda suggested), learn as much as you can about your surgery, find a good program for posting your menu every day so you can keep track of your stats, start walking or some of other kind of exercise, and join/read our LW posts.  The LW's are my sole support team.

Buy a small plate and a cup/glass that makes you smile for afterwards and maybe a food scale, buy the supplements that your program recommends, buy a protein cup with a silver ball in it, take before pictures so you can compare your journey, take your measurements, and if you are a weigher then buy a decent scale. You might want to buy some liquid pain medicine like Tylenol.  We had to stop at the store on the way home to buy SF popsicles.   Maybe order some sample Protein powders to try afterwards. Don't buy jugs because your taste buds won't be the same as it is right now for awhile for a few months.

Funny you should mention the samples because I bought the Syntrhax samples and just ordered some from Unjury.  Can't wait to try them.

Thank you all so much I was in tears earlier thinking I won't even be able to follow this after since I have zippo willpower right now, at a time when I should have more than normal.

Also my 16 yr old went on a trip to Nicaragua - first time out of the country - to hike some volcanos and help the poor and I'm worried sick about her so I think that makes me snack more too.

I really do feel at home here on this board and its all because of you all!!!

I understand about stress and our kids being away.  My 3 girls traveled with their church youth groups all over the place helping the poor. Not going to promise you that you won't stress eat after surgery but it limits how much you eat.

I would hold off trying the samples until a few weeks after surgery.  Most of us have a problem with tastes being stronger, sweeter, and spicier.
