Thanks for responding!! Just finding out the culprit is probably my low B-12 I feel a lot better.

My PCP said I was in a good range so I just thought I was losing my mind (memory). Now that I know the normal range for someone without WLS might be good with those numbers I can't compare myself to them.

My DH is kind of driving me crazy asking me if I'm taking my vitamins....lol.

Welcome to our LW Board!!!! We have had some successful women posters who have had the VSG. All of our men posters seem to loose faster than the women and they keep it off longer.

I was 55 when I had my RNY and not active at all. I sat on the sidelines for everything. I've never had a single regret (well maybe the first week) after my RNY. I'm 9+ years out now and still a normal BMI and under my original goal weight. I'm a tiny thing (described by others) at only 4'11". Before WLS it didn't matter how little I ate I couldn't keep the weight off.

Being over 6' tall I would think this would be a good choice for you if you can't keep it off on your own. At the age of 40 you will be far more active and you are way to young not to be happy with your body.

Only you can make this decision for yourself. Good Luck and keep us updated!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Good morning LW's,

Just wanted to check in. Feeling pretty good today. Getting close to goal and things are slowing down. Looking forward to hitting my original goal I had over 7 years ago.

So if your battling with regain, please know that if I can do it, you can too!

The hardest part was dealing with the sense of failure and despair. After I got over my little pity party, and saw the picture of myself from a wedding, that was the last straw I needed to get back on track!

Dont forget to take your supplements!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Yes it is possible to get rid of the regain!

I am 7 years post op and have lost 29 pounds since June of 2017.

I started journaling every bite on my fitness pal.

Ate protein first and got rid of refined carbs.

still trying to drink more water

Get back to basics and you can do this!

i try to look at my saggy skin as a reminder of how far I have come. My boobs are deflated and now my neck is sagging! But sure beats having diabetes!

I was in the same boat as you were 7 years ago. My type 2 diabetes was getting worse, as were my other markers for metabolic syndrome. Didnt want to end up like my mom and brother on insulin and many other health issues.

It is a life long commitment, for our surgeries are a tool, not a cure. Do your research, learn everything you can to make your best decision.

7 years later post rny, type 2 still in remission! No regrets here
