I find the average large container of protein costs $50-$80 depending on brand and where you get it, but it lasts a VERY long time. Several months for me.
How long do yours last Roz?

Thanks very much TRMW... I didn't even know Matrix was a brand name for protein/nutrition products (found them on Amazon; still immersing myself in studying everything) - more to learn about products in the next 4 months of my 6-month prep for surgery...
I figured on incorporating protein products, but those are So expensive - over $100 and $200 for a jar, depending on flavor - yikes. I hope I will be able to afford this way of living on top of making all the healthy life changes... I know it's worth it. Have a great day!
its a whey protein shake powder. I also found it through Roz's posts and I love it.
Problem is for me, they don't have it here in Canada and I have to ship it up and pay big duty fees :(
I'll buy more next time I visit the states - it really is good.

I just had my surgery through Kaiser south Jan 16,
So I'm not a good person to ask about things to come. However I was one that they were dragging their feet on, so I can give you some help there.
When I asked for the surgery I had already tried several things. I'd loose 15-25 pounds and it would go right back on. Even 35 pounds one time.
I wouldn't worry too much. Your Dr is going to use the heaviest weight you have documented with her/ him in the past 6 months. Also when your set up with Bariatrics the first thing they will do is weigh and measure you. However the two things you can do for yourself is to go to ANY KAISER Dept and asked to be weighed & measured. It only takes a few minutes for them to call you in and won't cost you a dime.
Also you can figure out your own BMI or ask at weigh in they all have charts.
If things aren't moving quickly enough or you feel like your being ignored...CALL MEMBER SERVICES
I had to in the beginning I kept getting the run around for my first appointment. Don't you know with in hours I was being called with an appointment time.
They are going to ask you to loose a certain amount of weight so don't worry.
A lot of people don't realize that chronic back pain is a reason for Bariatrics surgery. I don't know anyone who is overweight that doesn't. Have back pain of some kind.
P.S. when you finally get there your going to love it. All the Dr, Nurse's and dieticians also the receptionists there are all really great people
Good luck to you
Newbie Question about your Matrix Mint Cookie: What is it? Sounds great!
oh Roz, I am so sorry to hear this. It must be such a hard time for you right now.
I know this board is slow, I don't come here near enough. Hopefully I can get better at that and things will pick up soon.

Thank you. She was cremated but it was a nice memorial. I got to see 6 of my cousins that I hadn't seen for a long time.

Thanks for your condolences. My Mom passed away a couple days before Christmas and then my cousin. I've been struggling with posting. The LW board is so dead it's upsetting

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.
I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Afternoon LWs!!! I had a terrible case of the flu that's going around our area. I was down and out for 4 days. My body ached so bad I didn't want any one to touch me. I came back to work yesterday but today's the first day I've felt decent.
