Hi!
I think you are doing GREAT! I am not a Vet here, but will be a year out July 6th.
I was told at about 6 months out to try and get all my protein from food. The NUT suggests 60-80 gms protein and no more. I lose better, and I think feel better when I am 80-100 gms protein. When I was losing (I'm at goal), my carbs were usually 60-70 day, and low calories. I track my food for that at myfitnesspal.com. I still have 1 - 2 "shakes" daily to keep those totals up. I have the sleeve, not RNY, but I just cannot get enough "dense" protein like meats, etc, in at a time to get my protein intake that high. Volume wise if it is protein (like steak, roast - not ground meat) 2 oz, maybe a little more; other foods maybe closer to a 1/2 cup to a cup. Now that I am maintaining, I am having more veggies, fruits and whole grains (some bad stuff too - ugh), but mostly I am trying to eat healthy to get a lot of good nutrients in. During the losing part, protein, protein, protein.
Also, I have noticed, that if I didn't get in all my water/fluids 64 oz or more per day, it seemed like I would retain water. Especially now that it is getting hot and humid - just a thought. Keep the fluids going and that always seems to help get weight off too. Also, I have noticed that I get a headache, and feel very lightheaded if I don't get my fluids in - so be careful.
Take care and you are doing great! don't compare yourself to anyone else.

Hi Roz & everyone!
I am so glad everyone is talking about decarbing. My stress level has been high and some days have been better than others as far as choices I have been making. Decarbing - or at least non-processed foods - is what I need to get back to. I don't feel bad if I have fruits/veggies and occ. whole grains, but the chips, etc. are my BIG downfall!
Today was "fair" as far as carbs go, I had a horrible migraine this afternoon, don't get them too much anymore. I wonder if it is because of some of the junk I had this past week.
B: egg and low carb toast
S: Syntrax lemonade
L: one low carb bread with ham, lettuce and tomato
S: chips (ugh!); pepperoni slices; popcorn; root beer float (SF root beer & light ice cream)
D: pulled pork
Totals: Cal: 1,261 Carbs144 Fat40 Protein 75 Fiber 19
So, I am going to have to get back into having two protein drinks a day. I think I feel better when I do that as well. I am so thankful to be able to come here and get a reality check on getting back in step.
Thanks Roz and everyone!
Lynn

HI Roz & everyone!
Finally have some time to post something! Took first part of midterm this past week, think it was OK, have second midterm this coming week. Also broke the 130# barrier was at 129.8# this past week.
My husband does race photography, so we are at a small dirt track every Saturday. So a lot is kinda up in the air. All I really know for meals is my breakfast for sure, but here's my plan:
Breakfast: Protein Shake: 31 gm protein
Lunch: strawberries, blueberries, yogurt and granola
Dinner: ham sandwich on low carb bread, with tomato, lettuce and mayo
Snack: Protein Shake? 23 gm protein
Snack: pepperoni, fruit or veggies
Will need to keep well hydrated as is going to be hot and humid!
Have a great day & weekend!!!
Lynn

Hi,
Really just stopping by to say "HI". Been eating on the run - so not too good. Still losing weight, but I know it will be short-lived. Will try and post menus again starting tomorrow, but it seems all I do is work and go to school.
So happy to see everyone doing well. Will have my menu tomorrow - today was junk!!!

Hi Roz & everyone!
Welcome to the new members - it's great to see new people come and give input.
Today I feel like I have been shot out of a cannon. I, too, am getting my eating back in line after Mother's Day, finals, grandson's birthday. Roz - I even had 3 protein drinks today!!!
Here's my menu - I just realized I haven't put on myfitnesspal yet so I won't have totals, but did pretty well.
B: Double stuffed cookie drink with milk - probably about 30 gms protein
S: Syntrax tea - 23 (?) grams protein
L: low carb bread, ham, tomato and cheese
D: steak, salad & potato salad (1/4 cup potato salad)
S: Syntrax tean - 23 (?) protein
I love this board!
Lynn
Thought I'd come back & add totals;
1,158 cal 63 carb 43 fat 123 pro 9 fiber
I haven't exercised since Saturday - I really am missing it. I'm going to try and get up early and exercise before my day starts so I can get it out of the way.

Hi Roz & everyone!
I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I have been MIA the past couple of weeks with finals, and unexpected family things that happened. All is well tho' - just didn't have enough hours in the day. This weekend had grandson's 4th birthday party & Mother's day - had way too many carbs!
Here is today:
B: egg & strawberries
L: 1/2 hamburger, mixed veggies & a couple of french fries
D: salad with blue cheese dressing
S: Syntrax tea
S: Double stuffed cookie protein shake - YUM!
Totals: 771 cal 43 carbs 31 fat 77 pro 6 fiber
I know I should have more protein today - just not hungry at all.
Take care!

Congrats Laurie! It is so much fun. When I started getting new clothes, I took my old ones to a consignment shop, then had $ to purchase new ones. It is fun and seems like clothes are almost "free".

Hang in there! Head hunger is one of my battles too. Must have been in the air today!
It is good that you recognize what is going on. It will get better.

Hi!
Have a great week off Roz! You deserve it!
Well I haven't done well food-wise today at all - been running all day. Started out OK, went to my surgeon's office, their power went out, left then right before I got home they called and said power back on - so at least I got to keep app't. They did say they were happy with my weight and not to worry body will adjust where - ever it wants. They said I am probably where I need to be and just keep doing what I am doing - and start to maintain. It was a very interesting discussion.
Well, then more craziness - been running all day-won't bore everyone with all the details. So here goes:
B: jay robb protein, berries & milk
L: at Sam's club - samples of stuff was too full to eat
S: almonds
D: pizza
S: FF milk
I don't have totals, have posted here first. I did manage to work out today which was good. I haven't had much in volume, although I sure feel like it! Will do better tomorrow as hopefully won't be flying by the seat of my pants all day.

Topic: RE: How is this different?
Hi,
Mac gave very good advice.
I had my surgery last July. I, too, had many reservations thinking what difference will it make. It is hard to explain, but I seldom get hungry (I do get "head hunger" sometimes), and many times the foods I want are NOT processed carbs. I do find that I reach for healthier foods and have increased my activity.
The sleeve has been the best gift I have ever given myself. It has helped make me accountable and truly find a way to change my lifestyle. As Mac said, it is up to you once you lose your weight on what your ultimate goal is. I try and keep carb count down, but I do eat high protein, fruits, veggies, whole grains and a "treat" once in a while. I am at goal though. During the losing phase, the first few months, very low carb and high protein. As time went on in the losing phase, I started eating healthy carbs and even though my carb counts are higher than most, I am happy and it's worked for me so far.
Good luck!

Hi Roz and everyone!
That's exciting for your DD and their new house!
Busy day - finally at home after being on the run last few days. I weighed in at WW today and was up 0.6#. Ugh. Still at my fantasy of 135 though. I think eating on the run the last few days haven't helped.
I go to surgeon's office tomorrow. I will see the PA. I am excited though as I will be down to the goal weight I stated when I first went there last year. I am down about 12.7# from last time I was there. Weight does come off slower, but I am also eating more than I was early out too (don't think I could live on 600-800 calories forever).
Here's today's menu:
B: Smoothie (Jay protein powder, milk & strawberries)
L: Bacon, egg and low carb toast
D: Not sure as I will be gone from 5-9pm???
S: FF milk
S: probably syntax tea
S: ????
Also, when I go to Dr's tomorrow, they probably are not going to be happy that I am still drinking protein drinks. They told me last time (at 6+ months out) that I need to be getting all protein from meals (and we are to eat 3 meals per day - no snacks!), and the NUT about fainted when I said I was going to Weigh****chers! Ha!

Hi,
Was at Race for the Cure, and then car racing yesterday - so didn't get to post. I packed lots of protein yesterday, fruits & veggies with dip to snack on, although I did eat chips.
Today, just back from church and going to FIL's today, and back to another track tonight.
Brunch: sausage, 1/2 egg and cinnamon roll
D: not sure as we will be eating out. Am going to try and get some type of meat and non-starchy veggie
S: milk
s: Syntax tea - probably 2 of them
Everyone have a great Sunday. I started reading the Hunger Games yesterday and haven't been able to put it down!
