I know I make this harder than this should be.
So, if bounce back is about 5#, and I'm happy where I am at 134-135 - I should let my body get to about 129-130? Or do I just keep doing what I've been doing and see what happens after my year's surgiversary???

Hi Roz & everyone!
I have the Hunger Games borrowed on my Kindle. I have till the first part of May to fini**** Maybe I'll get it read this weekend while at the track.
Here's my day so far:
B: Jay Robb chocolate protein powder & milk
L: chicken salad & strawberries
D: probably left over brisket from last night
S: Syntrax lemon tea
S: ?????
Not too hungry today - so not really sure what I will be eating.
Also, that is great about your all's Disney trips. When I graduate May 2013, I would like to be able to take everyone to Disney between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2013. Probably first week in December when it may be slower, but can still see Christmas decorations. Roz and Linda where do you rent a house?
Thanks!
Lynn

Topic: RE: Good Morning. TGIF, babeees!
We are getting our grandson later today and will be having him for the next week. He is with us at least 4 days weekly most of the time, so it will be fun having him a little longer.
I just finished my last two "regular" quizzes this morning - so will be preparing for last 3 finals that will be coming in next couple of weeks.
Going to Race for the Cure in the morning, then to dirt track sprint car racing this weekend too! My husband is a photographer at one of the tracks. I hope I do OK eating at the track. Last summer when we went, I mainly lived on "mushy" foods & SF popscicles in the heat. It is supposed to be chilly this weekend though.
Everyone have a great weekend!!!

Topic: RE: What are you guys using for tracking?
I track on my fitness pal, weigh****chers and on Roz's post daily. My fitnesspal is where I get all my totals and is easy to use on my iPhone.
When I was early out, I did my fluid tracking on there, but also did it on paper. These days, since I can drink more at a time, I have a 32 oz water bottle and make sure to drink at least two of those daily. In summer I will try to drink 3.
Sounds like you are doing great!

Topic: RE: These vitamins are starting to make me gag....
I cannot remember for sure, but I don't think I started my full vitamin routine until a couple of weeks post op. I could be wrong.
I started with Centrum chewable multivitamins, I think Celebrate pink (wintergreen, or something???)calcium chewable meds - cannot remember all the other vitamins brands I started with. I am not sure when I started swallowing my vitamins, but I went back to the Centrum chewables - I just like them the best.
Also, double check on B-12 being swallowed. I believe it needs to be absorbed sublingual so you can get the full absorption of B12.
My tastes were different at first too. At 9+ months out, they are kinda back to normal, but sweet things at times just seem too sweet.
Hang in there - remember the biggest thing right now is fluids!

Hi Roz and everybody!
I didn't post here yesterday - worked and had a late night.
I have had a nice relaxing day - walked this AM, had Vitamin D checked as it had been sky high and they took me off it - curious what it is now, grocery shopped and went to consignment store. It is just beautiful here today.
B: protein smoothie
L: hot dog on "light" bun
D: going out to eat - so not sure
S: South beach whipped peanut butter bar - tasted wonderful!
S: Syntrax lemon tea
S: not sure
Totals so far 679 cal 60 carb 14 fat 79 prot 10 fiber
Hope everyone has a great night!
Update: We went out to eat & I had a full beer (ultra low carb) for first time (I've had a couple of sips before). I really was uncomfortable. Lesson learned!!!

I tried this when on Atkins. I liked it, haven't made for quite a while. I think MIM means muffin in a minute.
Thanks for reminding me! I'll try it again.

Topic: RE: I'm home from the hospital and on the mend
Glad you are home. I, like the others, stayed very, very close to my plan. I went home on full liquids - could not wait to get to "mushy" foods. Each time they advanced my diet I couldn't wait to try new things.
I remember my surgeon telling me at my one month check that that was the time to worry about losing weight. The first month or so is mainly to heal and keep hydrated. You will lose weight tho'!
I used to sit with the timer on my phone set every ten minutes to drink I think an ounce of water or something like that.
Don't forget to walk!
Congrats!

Topic: RE: I hit my fantasy goal today!!!
Hi Laurie,
Good questions. I had my surgery 7/6/11 last year. My highest weight at the beginning of 2011 was 223.8, so from that weight about a year. My surgery weight was 211. So from surgery about 9 months.
My biggest challenges are to stay on track and keep focused. So far, and this may change as time goes on, I feel tracking and measuring my food etc - especially if I have a "treat" are something I will need to do forever. I think it will keep me "honest" and looking back, at the time pre-surgery, I really didn't pay attention - or want to pay attention to how much volume I actually was eating. I accidently noticed one day on an old Weigh****cher tracker and I had saved a meal of pizza where I had put 3 or 4 slices, 2 or 3 breadsticks and something else. AND I thought about it and since I was tracking it, I probably usually ate more than that. So a lightbulb went off and no wonder I had gained so much weight.
The other thing that I am really incorporating into my life is walking/running. I try and do it daily. I need to start some type of strength training. I think that is a big key in keeping weight off - hopefully by staying aware of what I am eating and being active will do it.
Thanks for the questions Laurie! You are doing great!
I'd be happy to answer anything you would like. I am still such a novice, but I would love to help if I can.

I know maintenance is the hardest part. I am so grateful for this board for all the knowledge, support, and friendship.<br />

P.S. Found out my husband told friends this weekend, he thinks I have lost too much weight and need to STOP!!! Wow - I was very surprised at that. Don't know what to think although I'm happy to stay in 130's.

Topic: RE: How often do you weigh???
Hi,
I think I am driving myself crazy!!! I weigh at least once a day - maybe more - sometimes even before I go to bed.
I have my official weekly weigh in at Weigh****chers so I have one weight to count on and see progress. This past week at home, I weighed anywhere from 135.5 to 138. It seems like how much fluid I've taken in (usually if I don't have at least 64+ oz, I will weigh more & be puffy), sodium and if I'm constipated (sorry TMI) certainly plays a part in my weigh-ins (I know that's all common sense).
I just wondered if it is good/bad to weigh in so much? What do you all do?
Thanks for your input!

Topic: RE: Good Morning. Thoughts about stretching your sleeve or pouch
Hi,
I know I am not a year out yet, but I think it would be hard for the stomach to stretch out much.
As far as dense protein I can eat about 2 oz at a time and that is it. Now, if I have "softer" meat - like meatloaf I can eat 4 oz, occ. a full hamburger, but usually just 2 oz of hamburger. I think a lot has to do with how soft it is. When I saw my NUT at my 6 month app't I was to be off all protein drinks and get protein only from food at that time. I still drink protein drinks - probably get at least 50 gms of protein from drinks alone daily (usually higher than that). They state 60-80 gm of protein is all we are to get daily. They say more than that is just more calories and unnecessary. I think I feel better with higher protein numbers.
I agree with others about eating around surgery. On my indulgent days, even this early out, even if I feel full I can still eat the sliders. So, maybe it isn't the stretching of the stomach, but eating more processed foods that go right through? I am not sure, but processed foods are my enemy and I'm not perfect, but try to keep them at bay.
I do still weigh and measure 90-95% of all the food I eat, and realize I will probably always have to do that. Also, I use a salad or luncheon plate most of the time so I feel like I'm eating a lot of food.
I love these discussions! Thanks Gina!
