Next Meeting 7/29
July 24, 2008 12:50 am
What an awesome month we have had as a group!  Three new post-op patients added to the group and I hear they have great non scale victories to share.   Our next meeting will be at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 29th.  Remember that this is a change from our normal schedule due to a scheduling conflict with the bank.   Starting August we will be back to meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month!   Remember, we welcome both pre-op and post-op patients and their support person(s).   Don't forget to check out our group site www.obesityhelp.com/group/UpToMe/ We are continually updating it with pictures, links, recipes and celebrations!  Additionally, we would love for you to provide us with your surgeon's site so we can add them to our list for others who are considering surgery.  The site also has a calendar page for upcoming events.   That is where we post our group meetings and any other events that are coming to our area.   Feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions or concerns!    Melissa and Ira Sansolo

Sheena's surgery 7/22
July 22, 2008 9:15 pm
Just wanted to let everyone know that mom's  ("sheenafrappuccina" in this group) surgery went well yesterday!!  She didn't even look like she had surgery to be quite honest - her makeup and hair looked untouched - and most importantly, she was in good spirits.  I asked her what her pain level was and she said it was about a 2 (from 1-10).  Also, before dad left last night, he said she told the nurses she wanted to get up and start moving!!!??
What?? Are you kidding me??  God is GOOD. And I am thankful that we are through yesterday.  The next few weeks may still be a little tough (broth, clear liquids), but I know she can get through it with HIS help.

Did any of you get hungry while on the clear liquids phase??  I don't see how you wouldn't.
Also, are there any other flavors of liquid Tylenol other than cherry?  Have you guys tried the cherry?  Is it bad tasting?

I am jealous of Melissa!
July 21, 2008 1:01 am
I guess I am jealous (lol). About 3 weeks ago Melissa was looking at me (poor thing) and said what is that lump in your stomach. When we looked further it looked like a hernia, so being the paranoid man that I am I ran to the doctor in panic. He said yes it is a lingual (belly button) hernia and has to be repaired. So Friday I met the surgeon and he said yes let’s repair it. To finally get to the point here he said they do it laproscopiclly, so therefore that now means that Melissa and I can play connect the dots (LOL). Now I told her that I will need a lot of care, she said I had my Lap-Band done and was up walking in a few hours and so will you. I guess I am in real trouble. See you all on the other side of the anesthesia!!Ira
