Yesterday, I finally made it to the college library and found a nice, quiet carrel in the stacks next to a power outlet. A writer can't ask for more than that. I wrote for only an hour and a half, but it's good to have found a spot. For me, writing is like exercise--best not to focus on how I feel when I'm doing it, but just that I'm doing it.

Boy, is it nice not to have to mow every day!

This morning is my WW weigh-in after the first real WW week. Like the writing, best not to focus on how much I've lost (or not) in one week, but on the fact that I'm practicing eating well and healthfully.

Today's musical offering is 2019's #1 song. Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Yeah, I didn't know that either.

Here's another video of the song I like better. I bet these moves will be featured in tomorrow night's Ozarkian Hip Hop Dance Class.

That is terrific that you have a good spot to write at. Do you plan to cultivate one at home ultimately? I had to have a desk in an out of the way location when I worked at home so when I sat at that desk I was "at work" and could stay focused. The commute and dress code were great!

Weight 135.4, which means essentially unchanged. Like Ann, that is okay because I ate well and no wine was consumed. I was supposed to weigh-in yesterday (I first signed up for a Wednesday studio), but I did the last 2 weigh-ins elsewhere on Saturday because of the holidays. Since I have the same issue next week because of the funeral, I figured that I would go this Saturday as well. They found my Lifetime information so once I get to 131 (2 pounds above my old goal of 129), I will be free! I have been trying to be so diligent about cutting excess expenses the last few months so that will please me, though my true goal is to stay between 120-125.

It is SO COLD out there - 20 degrees with wind chill at 8 degrees. Justice was very fast outside this morning and I may just stay in all day today. He doesn't like the small amount of snow on the ground at all. He won't walk on the white stuff if he can avoid it and doesn't like the crunchy leaves either. Such a Florida dog! Maybe I'll go through pictures for the funeral. I should but I am not looking forward to that and will limit the time doing it.

Keep warm today!

I do write at home, but in my recliner (which is a very comfortable place to type on my laptop), not in a special writing place.

For now, I'm enjoying "honoring" my writing practice by doing it somewhere completely different than the place where I do many other things.

I'll see how my writing space(s) change and evolve. Or don't. :)

Weight 199.6 (so good to be back in the 1's, even if only by the skin of my teeth and still 6 pounds more than when I left for NZ. I can pack it on FAST)

First excellent news! Back in October, my dad had his Mayo quarterly cancer check and nothing was detected, so they told him they would see him in 6 months (yay!). The caveat was they'd have him do a urine cancer test at 3 months remotely and if that showed anything, they'd have him come back then instead of waiting for 3 more months. He got his results yesterday and again, no sign of cancer! This was stage IV with a 12-15% 5 year survival rate. He's at 4 years. I am so incredibly thankful.

I have been very sluglike lately. I need to start putting walking back into my days for its overall health benefits (walks other than Ferg strolls, which are extremely slow). My feet are feeling so much better. All my joints are feeling better (feet, toes, elbows, ankles, fingers, shoulders - everything that was hurting during my recent gain). I'm wondering if inflammation from the weight gain and crappy eating is the cause of my woes? If so that is a powerful and painful force! I was originally thinking arthritis, but given that it's all but vanished with some weight loss and improved eating, I'm not sure it was. The plantar fasciitis is still there a bit, but nothing like what it was.

Today is therapy, but no other big plans. Maybe putting some stuff away. I'm bad about putting away what I take out!

Great news about your Dad!

Funny you should mention that about your joints. Mine were all aching terribly this fall when I wasn't eating well but they are much better now.

Ditto what Liz said.

Some people get to be in that long-time survivor cohort, and I'm glad your dad's one of them. :)

Re inflammation -- when I eat crap, I feel like crap, including my joints, especially my knees. Although lately, my feet, too. And maybe my left shoulder. And my hips. Now that I think about it, even my hands.

His oncologist is very blunt (which my dad likes) and he says it will come back one day, so enjoy every day you get. I think that's good advice for all of us.

So interesting to not be alone in the inflammation joint pain... It sneaks on so stealthily my brain didn't make the connection.

Weighed in at WW this morning and clocked a 3.4 pound loss, although that included the loss of my shoes from last week.

Still, some of it's real weight gone.

One week down, another 8-10 weeks to go before my neck lift surgery. I should be maintaining well at that point.
