2 more sleeps in this weird hotel. At least the bed is comfortable!
We did the bus yesterday until about 1, but then got off earlier than planned because it was completely stuck in traffic for the last half hour. We walked to Convent Garden at that point and split a great fish and chips meal at a little pub. In the afternoon we did a lot of walking to Buckingham Palace, then to a huge Toy Store with 7 floors which we wandered through. I bought gifts for my grand nephews and grand niece - hopefully they will fit in our bags! We hung around in our hotel room in the late afternoon to recoup, then went to dinner at an Indian restaurant. Really excellent lamb curry and butter chicken.
Today we are off for the usual Sunday breakfast, followed by a walk to Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guard. This afternoon we have a tour of the Tower of London.
The one thing we didn't book was a show which feels strange since we are staying in the West End where all the theaters are. I just don't think I have the energy to stay up late for a show. 3 weeks of travel is a long time at our age.
SILs are still in Madrid waiting for insurance clearance to travel. If I were them I would just book the plane and leave. I think nothing is happening because of the weekend.
The Sunday bus (our feet) is leaving soon. Have a sun-filled Sunday!

Liz, it sounds as if you are READY to get home and back to a more serene life on Cape Cod. 3 weeks of travel is A LOT - especially the way you have done it. I imagine that the first leg with the SILs added a great deal of stress to the start of your trip, too.

I have been searching for the shirt I regret NOT buying while in Germany. My brother thought it was far too loud, so I did not follow my gut as I should have. Found it yesterday (I had been searching the wrong label!). I really should have bought it in Germany. I'm paying a boat load in shipping, but now I am happy. It's ridiculously loud and vibrant, but I really love it. I am now officially on clothes shopping restriction! I have plenty, and being retired, I have fewer places to wear my "fun"/dressier clothes.
Today I have a client dog, but not much else. I think I will do a little around the house and see if Ron would like to go to a movie this evening. We haven't been to a movie in some time and I think it sounds like a good idea.
I love it! Flower Power!!!
And YES, I am so ready to be home!

LOL! We have a similar style! However, i didn't bring my bright colored stuff here and I am glad i didn't. I would have stuck out like a sore thumb. Especially in Poland where black was definitely the predominant color.

Greetings all
It is overcast here after a few days of sun. Great for my guest. We had a super fun time reminiscing about our law school days during which we acted like junior high students. Reviewing all our professors and classmates was fun. We also saw many sights and views here, ate at fave restaurants, visited the Murdered by Capitalism grave, gallery and beaches. All good but too short. So now it is up to me to do the next visit and will do so. DH became obsessed with making sure her car was in shape for her trip home so he was checking tire pressure and oil and trying to make sure gps worked and such. So funny. She is like me and hates gps. Give me a paper map any day.
So today I am back to my usual lazing about. I will do the gym and such. House never did get fully picked up but it was all fine. Don't know why I sweat this stuff. I will likely skip studio today and get back to that routine tomorrow.
So Liz bet you are looking forward to getting home. London is great but like all big cities exhausting. I remember the national art gallery as being spectacular. Ditto British museum. Glad you found local toys for the kids. And hope by this time your SIL is safely on the way home. Whew! A trip for the ages for you!
Peps we love the shirt. Agree that you must have it. Why not? Enjoy the leisure.
Paula hope the show goes well. Big sales. Enjoy.
Not much else. All is well here.

Yes, what's the meme I see from time to time, I had a really good time at Debbie's house. Her floorboards were spotless, said no one ever. I need to develop this philosophy and entertain more in all my shabby glory. It sounds like you all had such a good time, and it was kind of sweet for your DH to fuss over her car. I bet she left, feeling very treasured by all the things you two did during her visit.
We did indeed have a great time. Mt friend grew up in a packrat family so she gets it.
So glad you had fun with Debbie. No one cares about floorboards (if they do then they are not worthy).
DH's fussing shows that he really likes my friend Marion . Always has.
One other adventure that I forgot is that my left eye suddenly became blood red Friday morning. Got into the eye doctor and it is some kind of small hemorrhage that can occur from strain or coughing. It is a total nothing and should go away. Does not hurt. Ugly looking but not an issue Glad we checked. diane s
