I wonder what part of the country Peps is in right now?

We got all the To Do's accomplished yesterday and enjoyed a good Oktoberfest dinner with friends at the clubhouse last night. I even got packed except for the last minute stuff though I can't find my preferred reading glasses this morning. Not unusual.

We leave at 8:30 for the airport, flying out at 10. I love having the airport only 10 minutes away. Free parking too so we can leave our car there for the 5 days. Our drive to the Cape house is a bit longer at 2 hours but at least we don't have it on both ends. The Justice walk will happen this afternoon up north. It is supposed to be sunny every day we are there with a high of only 60 today, but low 70's the other days on the Cape and 80 on Saturday when we go to Central Massachusetts for the party.

Have a throughput Thursday!

I live close to the airport too. It's really perfect, as we can get there by two different freeways (if one is backed up, the other is available) and it takes 15-20 minutes tops. But also, the way the runways are situated, we don't get flyover noise. When we talk about hypothetical places we would move, we always evaluate access to a major airport. One of the things that appealed to us about the Tampa/St. Pete area when we were thinking about Florida.

Being retired, and add on the outstanding weather this week: every day feels like some kind of miracle. I am still giddy about being released from the obligations of work. Co-worker called me the other day to vent and ask for advice. I was able to tell her a few things I learned about particular students last year: so and so needs multiple prompts, so and so needs for you to hear him out, no matter how crazy his idea, and then he'll cooperate if he feels you listened, so and so's Mom will back you up if you call home... and i was happy to do it, but it didn't make me miss it at all. Some of the students have asked if I'll come in and visit, but I don't think I will. If I was still in the building, they would be stopping by my room, but as the year progressed, their visits would be less. That will happen this year too. Time will move on, and I'll stop being someone who they relied on, as it should be.

This morning I am going to go shopping. I don't have so many nice summer tops anymore (although my sundress collection is pretty good). If there are any still in the stores, they should be marked way down. I'll go take a look.

Not much else, except chipping away at household chores that were deferred for so long. I pretty much try to do one thing at least, and usually it involves cleaning out drawers or closets. : )

I like your rationale on why not to go visit the school! Makes sense! Have fun shopping. Hope you get some good close-out deals on summer stuff'

I was never this close to the airport. The closest was Boston, technically an hour if there was no traffic but there was ALWAYS traffic so you had to plan for 90 minutes or more. The other appeal to our super close Florida airport is that it is tiny - only one check-in line, one security line, one waiting area, and one gate. Also only one airline right now (Breeze) but JetBlue and American are trying to add flights. I don't know how that is going to wor****il they expand the airport.

I hope you found some cute tops! I sometimes have good luck at TJ Maxx, but recently I have found nice ones at White House Black Market.

Greetings all

Another sunny day here. Operation New Garage Door is in full swing. Almost finished. DH, amazingly, has not been hovering about which is why it is almost done. Seems like we have pretty much rebuilt this whole house - new roof, siding, bathroom, floors. Whatever. So this morning I had to go back to the gallery to collect some stuff that I forgot there yesterday. Oh well. Then I went to the studio and finished up some items that were dry and made the ready for firing by sponging off the rough spots. No drama today. Quick store visit for chicken to cook for the dogs. They have expensive tastes!

Yeah our airport is only 5 minutes away. We see the planes coming in to land but they take off in the other direction so it is not noisy here. There is a coast guard base at the airport so all kinds of big military helicopters stop in. Fun. But they put in a new long term parking system which is messed up and expensive. No thanks.

DD good on you for talking to your former co worker. And good on you for not visiting. You are having too much fun. More zinnias? More summer shirts?

Liz you guys really get around! Enjoy the visit to the cape.

So I have been awol from the gym for a few days and am feeling guilty. Today was planned but excess errands got in the way. Gotta do tomorrow for sure. Meanwhile today's mission is to launder all the sofa blankets which have dog footprints on them. I really must go inspect the canyon,,,

Our dogs have expensive taste too. We feed them raw (chicken, pork or ground beef) every morning and they kibble later in day.

The gyms treadmill is missing you I bet!

I picked another bouquet of Zinnias just yesterday. Everyday they are blooming now is a gift, because we are past the average 1st frost date. 36 years ago, my MIL died very suddenly at 60 (massive heart attack in her livingroom) on October 1. It was a spectacular fall day, and the frost had not yet come that year either. It came that night. On October 2, all my flowers were dead from a heavy frost. It seemed fitting at the time, as we were in such grief. I think about that every year on the 2nd, especially if the flowers are still blooming. DH was 29 when she passed. Tonight at dinner he told me he's lived many more years without a mother than he lived with a mother. I still miss her and DFIL. (DFIL died of a broken heart 3 years later. DH was an orphan at 32)

So very sad to lose both parents so young!

Yeah, houses always seem to need something done. The Cape house I sold last year had had everything redone on the exterior and the floors, furnace and AC done inside. Next up was contemplating replacement of 2 bathrooms and the kitchen cabinets. I just didn't have the energy for it.

I am sure that expensive parking for our little airport will be coming but for now it is free. And an Uber back and forth is pretty cheap as an alternative. DS is 10 minutes from his airport and just uses Uber.

123 on the dot today.

Finally returned to my Bible study. I had not been since the week before my surgery. It was nice to see the ladies again!

Hair cut and color today. This might be one of the last times with my hair dresser. I know it will be way more expensive in FL!

No news on the house front. Just trying to be patient and let things fall into place. Easier said than done!

DSD coming home again for part of this weekend and next weekend as well. Trying to visit as much as she can before a move!

Weather here has been beautiful. High 70s, low 80's and I guess it will continue at least through the weekend. I have not spent too much time outdoors, just a short dog walk daily!

Bella dog would love Justice walks, Emma not so much, she wants to head home after 1/2 block, little old lady that she is. Have fun on your 5 day Cape visit! Especially have fun at SILs party and visiting the kids!
