118 - my prediction is that it will be a bit higher tomorrow because we are having steak tonight. We shall see if I am right, but it seems to take a couple of days to pass through.

I had the water aerobics and golf way too close together yesterday. I had 25 minutes to dry off, change, and get at least my ponytail dried and under a hat. I felt like I played relatively badly but I actually had one of my better scores. Interesting. I definitely do WAY better at the practice range than on the course. I need some more lessons, but I'd like to have them on the course, not on a practice range. The guy who I wanted to arrange that with got fired this summer though (rumors of why are not clear). The skills I could learn at a practice facility would be chipping and putting.

Today I get my hair trimmed and highlighted. Bocce practice at 4. It looks like today will be beautiful again: Sunny, low 80's, lower humidity. Perfect Florida days. We needed it after all that stinking rain and the king tides which helped flood part of our golf courses. Golf Association play which was supposed to start this week is delayed by a week to let the soggy courses dry out. That means that DH and I miss the first games as we will be in Arizona most of next week.

Have a tilting Tuesday!

Rainy and chilly today, but the rain is needed, and the chill well, it's inevitable. It was nice and cozy in my bed this morning, knowing I didn't have to get up in the dark and head to work. Liz, DH was going to tey to get me started on golfing, but the summer slipped away. As your skills are growing, are you enjoying it?

After I did my work out, I went grocery shopping. I guess a dinner party requires several different stops. The menu: appetizers will be South Carolina Pimento Cheese, and anitpasti skewers (meat, cheese, basil, olive and artichoke hearts) with balsamic glaze. The saald course is a salad called Columbia 1905. The homemade dressing is really good! Dinner is Stuffed Pasta Shells and steamed green beans. Dessert is Italian Cream Cake. It is similar to Hummingbird Cake, but no pineapple. The cake is kind of heavy with a cream cheese frosting, so I might put out a small plate of cut up fruit for people who don't want cake.

A delightful thing happened while I was grocery shopping. A man came up to me and said excuse me, but are you Mrs. xxxx? I recognized him, he was a student I had 8 years ago! He told me is a nurse now, and how much I helped him during school. He thanked me for the kindness I showed him. Oh my heart! How absolutely wonderful that a young man who took a reading intervention class with me was able to go onto post secondary school and earn a professional degree/license. It's so what you hope for your students. And to know that 8 years later, he remembers me as someone who made a difference for him, well it brought tears to my eyes. You hope that's what you're doing in the moment, but it is so meaningful to have a student tell you that in fact, you did. I feel so grateful at this moment for the career that I had. And to think the sweet boy I remember is now helping others in his career. Perfect.

Today I am going to do some cleaning. It's good for me to have company once in awhile to spur me on to do some sort of deep cleaning. I hate messes on the counter or the stove or in the sink, but I have too high of a tolerance for dust. Company equals finally dusting. : )

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."

Golf is okay - a bit frustrating for me because I keep thinking I should improve faster and honestly don't care enough to put in a lot of work/lessons to do so. But I like being out on the course with old or new friends. And sometimes I do okay at it. People who can just go with the flow and not get annoyed with themselves when they flub a stroke tend to enjoy it earlier on but I have a hard time just saying oh well and moving on. In other words if I make a mistake I get anxious and make several more mistakes because I am anxious. My own worst enemy.

Greetings all

Big sun today and it is pretty calm. I drove the scenic way up to Trinidad and the gallery to take some new stuff. The view from the cliffs there is spectacular. I never get tired of it. After that I did the gym. Two days in a row!!Thanks to DD I am still listening to Prince music. This morning I watched his Super Bowl halftime show from 2007 as somewhere I heard it was the best half time show ever. Maybe in the context of the Bad Bunny stuff. Anyway the Prince clip is worth a look.

After that it was studio time. They were setting up for a kids class when I left. Quite the giggle to listen to.

Yay DD what a fabulous moment from your former student. And how cool of him to approach you to express thanks. What a gift you are to have helped someone enough with reading to be a nurse. And guess what? I bet there are loads of others who never get the chance to say it but are grateful. Yay and more yay. And BDW that menu sounds great.

Well Liz fun at golf is the idea - less fun if taken too seriously. I used to have to golf once a year for an event our law firm had. I see the fun but it is also not easy.

Pot pie tonight. DH hit the store on his way home from the dentist.

No scrabble today as one of the four is absent.

After the gym I indulged myself by driving by a house nearby that recently came on the market. The place looked kind of dark and over shaded. Curiosity satisfied.

Another incredible Prince video worth a look: The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction for George Harrison. A group of Musicians are playing As My Guitar Gently Weeps. Prince steps forward towards the end of the song to play his guitar solo. Even musicians like Tom Petty have a look on their face like Holy @#$+ this guy can play.

Prince starts around minute 3.25.

Sounds like a heavenly drive! Isn't it nice sometimes to look at another house and realize how much more you like yours? I used to like that feeling if I viewed another house when not really actively looking though there was always that danger that I might like it more than mine.

Thanks for sharing the story about your former student! It would have brought tears to my eyes too! How cool to know that you made a difference in someone's life and I'm sure he is just one of many!

206.5 Continued downward movement. I'll take it.

Client dog already done. I have to admit, the extra cash from trimming dogs is pretty nice these days!

Back to the gym yesterday. I'm already sore. Is it weird that I like workout soreness? I really do.

I had a moment of unadulterated glee today thinking how this retired life is really my new normal. I felt so free and unfettered.

DD, what a wonderful treat to run into a student and learn how much of a positive impact you had on his future! I'm so pleased for you. Experiences like the one you had today are the true rewards of being a teacher. You and I both know what we did wasn't about the pay!

Have to meet with the NUT therapist today and then run some melatonin over for my dad. Then I'll hit the gym.

Tonight it will be Taco Tuesday. Little effort and very satisfying!

I like the slightly shaky feeling after a good workout. Less a fan of post workout soreness. We all have our things : )
