Greetings all

More sun here. Started the day with scrabble. I almost beat the Shark but in the end lost by two points. Dang. Won one and lost another. Oh well. Was gifted some home grown apples that are fabulous. Liberty apples I think. I skipped out on the studio but will go tomorrow. I need to drive up to the gallery to take new stuff picked up yesterday. i also had to follow up on our gallery insurance which is in place but they don't send out paper anything anymore.

Liz it is pretty energetic of you to get on a plane and then do practice and go to a dance. Lots of stuff in one day/1

DD I wish we had Aldi's here. Tell us if the pork is any good. And yeah, isn't the gym more fun when it is empty? I guess some people go there to socialize but not me. Sorry your BFF is so stressed. Do you think there is anything wrong more than being tired? Don't blame you for being concerned about your trip. We now have a door lock that we can tell remotely if it is locked or not.

Made chicken fried rice last night. More for tonight. I think restaurants use peanut oil to get that distinct take out flavor so ours is a little bland. Oh well.

time to hit the road before rush hour. Tee hee our town has a total of 5 traffic lights

Whew! You had to get creative to get yourself to the airport this morning. Clever flex. Will you go to the beach house for Christmas, or staying in a hotel when you return in December? Hope you're not too tired to enjoy your activities when you get back to Florida.

Yesterday I typed a response to Paula about the weather, and it gave me a weird message I've never seen before, something like, Thanks! Your reply is posted. But it wasn't. I've also gotten messages telling me when I go to post that I should proceed with caution because the connection is not secure. Is OH still a secure website?

Another day in the 50s/60s but some nice sun. This is the actual average temp, so it's to be expected. A return to the 70s is coming, yeah! Still no frost forecast, so I watered the outdoor flowers again. I did repot my houseplants, and watered them down big time. They're dripping right now, but I'll bring them in tonight. It's going to be around 38 tonight, so not freezing, but no need for the houseplants to deal with that level of cold.

Back to Planet Fitness today after skipping the weekend. Wow! So empty at 10:30am. I really like it. Afterwards I did a reconnaissance mission to Aldi, just to walk around and scope out what they have and what it costs. It's right by the gym, so I am going to try to do some of my shopping there. I did grab a box of frozen pork schnitzel. It's 220 calories a serving, and 19 grams of protein, so not too bad of a ratio. I figured if anyone has a good frozen german meat product, it should be Aldi's. I'll let you know what we think.

BFF is really struggling. She's doing too much between working and taking care of her grandkids on her days off. The other night we came home, and her car was unlocked, and the interior lights were on. She was already in bed, but luckily DH noticed before it drained her battery. This morning he found her keys in the front door, so they were there all night. Also not good. She tells me the same stories over and over, leaves things behind, and looks so tired. Her ex husband is supposed to be coming to help in November. I sure hope so, because she clearly needs a break. But also, we're getting concerned about her being in the house alone while we're in Brazil.

Not much else going on here except the usual household stuff that must be attended to. There's nothing big on my schedule until October 19th, when we go to Galveston. Things will pop up I'm sure.

117.8

My niece did well in surgery yesterday and hopefully will go home today. I hope the recovery is easy.

We had a big panic late yesterday afternoon. We went to pick up the rental car we had reserved to drive to the airport this morning and they didn't have any cars. Apparently they don't have to honor reservations (first come, first served). And apparently they don't feel the need to notify the renter (we drive 45 minutes away to get the car). Where we live on the Cape is not well serviced by airport shuttles uber, etc. So we were struggling to figure out what to do. I finally had an epiphany and we are going to drive the car to SIL's home (where there are other transportation options) and take an Uber from there. DH's DD will pick the car up from there Friday when she is coming to the Cape with her husband. Other than that, everything on the list was accomplished yesterday.

We need to leave earlier this morning because of the transportation shift so I was up at 4:45. It will be a LONG day. If all goes smoothly we arrive in Florida around 3, have bocce practice at 4, and have a dinner dance at 6. That's one of the reasons I have to be up early - so I can get my hair washed. Wasn't so bad when we were leaving an hour later.

Time to throw the sheets in the wash and take my shower. Have a terrific Tuesday!

Wait until you get used to living in Florida and the temperature drops below 70!

Frustrating to have to have no control over the house situation.

Medicare does cover bariatric surgery if medically indicated (BMI GT 35, comorbidities, etc.). But as we know sometimes those who could benefit most are the least likely to pursue it.

I'm with you on coffee. I only drink one cup these days but can't function without it.

Good thing you know Brazil well! Most of us regular folk wouldn't have a clue where to go or stay.

124.1. My shot yesterday so far has had little effect.

Rainy, cooler day on tap here. We were spoiled with 80 degree days for most of last week. Today I'm wearing jeans and a sweater and added a coat when we went grocery shopping. I'm such a cold whimp!

No house news today! I just want it settled! Grrrrrrr!

Greetings all

More big sun. The day started early for me as I realized I had to go get this blood draw. The med lab has been taken over by a big company and the place was so packed there was no place to sit so I waited in my car for a text. Sure are lots of old people in there (me included). I saw one SMO older woman using a walker and I wanted to grab her and tell her to get vsg. Does medicare cover it now? After that it was drive as fast as possible to the nearest coffee drive through for a huge one. I don't mind not eating breakfast but no coffee is a deal breaker. Came home for a bit and then went to the studio. Lots to glaze and new things to collect to take to the gallery.

Liz so sorry your niece is having such a rough time. Not fair. Wishing her fast recovery and uneventful health. Yay cool that you get to meet up with CC.

Dreaming of Brazil DD! So great that you get to spend extended time there and visit off the beaten track spots. I guess Brazil is about as big as the USA so lots to see. Any Amazon viewing? I don't blame your DH for not wanting to drive there; or any foreign country. A sleeper bus sounds way more civilized. Can't wait to hear about it. They grow coffee there, right? Might be fun to do your own survey of coffee. Ditto jazz music.

I made quesadillas last night but that is the end of that. Might do chicken fried rice tonight since I have the stuff.

Oops, forgot to plug the car in. I will likely be driving to the big city tomorrow for Scrabble. I have not been to a gas station in years. Tee hee.

CC and Liz, your meet up plans sound so fun!

I'm still deep into Brazil trip planning. So I think I have the beach thing figured out. Now I am working on a 5-6 day schedule of visiting mountain towns via coach bus. It will be an adventure!! As I'm looking at accommodationsI think about the vastness of Brazil and the huge differences in the landscapes between Northern ans Southern Brazil. The places I'm looking at in the mountains are called Pousadas which is are small inns or "resting places". I think in Portugal they are actually goverment run, but in Brazil they mean a small or smaller hotel/inn, privately owned. Many of them are little single room cabins. Very rustic, in the southern pines, but not what people would expect, I think, as Brazilian. They are popular in January and February as a way to escape the heat in the city if you're not going to the beach.

Doll's House is indeed a dark play. It was very well performed and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't want all my theater experiences to be so heavy.

There is so much to do! Trip planning, decorating for Halloween, laundry, meal planning, repotting plants... I guess with the exception of laundry, I didn't do most of those things the last few years I was working. The houseplants were lucky they go****ered!

Weight is doing fine (well I wouldn't mind if the previous downward trend started up again), but eating enough protein continues to be a struggle. At the end of the day, I usually chug a glass of Fairlife milk to raise the protein amount without adding too many calories...
