202.1 - somewhat disappointing, but eh... life goes on and I can live with it. It's not like I'm being perfect, but it's not like I'm NOT trying to get down either... Sigh...
SIL ended up in the ER yesterday after a blood draw on Wednesday. Doctor's office called and said get to the ER NOW! Her sodium level was dangerously low. Turns out she has pancreatitis, most likely a complication from the tirzepatide she's been injecting - even after she was diagnosed as malnourished by her PCP! (Her PCP is unaware that she's on the tirzepatide.) In a way I was glad that it happened here, so my brother could stay here overnight and I could talk with my SIL about coming clean with the ER docs about the tirzepatide. She was PISSED that my brother told me she was taking it. All I could do was shake my head... Like I'm gonna judge?????
It's going to be a trimming day today - both dogs and human. I'll get a workout in, too, after my nutritional therapy session...
Sun has finally poked out. YAY! Too many days of gray sky make me a gloomy Gus!
Did anyone notice the Super Moon last night? It was breathtaking! The moon appeared roughly 14% larger last night on the horizon. There is another chance to see it tonight. I highly recommend taking a peek!
Back on track with my injections on Thursday at bedtime. However, once again, my vial was a few units short. It really irks me when I get shorted.

Got the Christmas tree up and a few decorations out. It will be minimal this year! Still deciding what I might do for outside decorations. We have palm trees out front and I like the look of the trunks wrapped in white lights! I'm not sure there are outside outlets though! At least I have not found them yet.
DD, I'm so happy your Mom decided to sign up for hospice! I hope she is able to get all the services she needs and some burden will be lifted from you and your brother. Have fun at the orchestra! I went to a conference in St. Paul one winter and those skyways sure were nice!
Liz, your countertops look great, very shiny! And your nails held up well!
Had lunch with a friend of a high school classmate of mine and her husband. They live in the same community that we do so we met at the clubhouse. Very easy conversation. They fly out tomorrow to return to WI and won't come back here until February. Silly kids like to snowmobile in WI in the winter!
I think we will do grilled burgers tonight for dinner.
The nails look great. DD loves to use glue on nails, and says they last 2 weeks. She showed me how to put some on and I really like them. Except I would think what you're using doesn't make your nails feel "different". Mine feel like when you get acrylics. I also don't know how easy they pop off, but DD said a little nail polish remover will do the trick if they are not lose. I assume I will want to takw them off because my own nails will grow and it will look like I need a fill. I'll post a pic on TT, because I can't figure out how to do it on this site.
Your countertops look amazing, as does the whole kitchen. It's such a beautiful home.
Most of the decorating is done. I have a couple more bins to look in, and decide what else I want to put out. These days I' think remember, whatever you put out has to be put away later. We put a lighted garland on the rail, and of course a tree. These bring the Christmas cheer, everything else is just the whipped cream and cherries.
We're going to the Minnesota Orchestra this evening. I am looking forward to it. Today is warmer, it's in the 20s! Celebrate. Going to to the Orchestra in the winter is very easy, because the ramp is connected to Orchestra Hall, so you never have to go outside. Normally I don't mind walking a block or two to a venue, because I like the energy of the city and the theater district has a lot of pretty marques. But on days like these, skyways connecting buildings are very welcome.

Somewhat quick post as I am running a bit behind this morning and Justice is waiting for his walk. Will respond to interesting discussions from yesterday later.
Thanks for the book suggestions! I have time to read some of them before I need to make a choice. I will probably pick from the ones I read.
The event last night was really nice. I think we may be in the local paper for the second year in a row LOL because they took a picture of us with some other folks.
One last silly thing - I think I mentioned that I tried these easy to put on pre-cured gel strips 3 weeks ago. They are supposed to last 21 days and as of today it has been 22 days. The last test will be how easy (or not) it will be to take them off. Picture below of the nails the first day (on the left) and today. Also a picture of my shiny marble countertop (it had no shine at all previously).

There is so much to be concerned with about AI. I did use it my last year of teaching for a couple of things: if I wanted a quick multiple choice quiz to measure comprehension it worked pretty well, although I did edit every quiz it generated because there were mistakes. But it was nice to not have to invent the entire quiz myself. I also used it for sub plans. I would find what I thought anyhow, was a high interest news article and I would run it through AI and ask it to edit it to my student's reading level (very helpful) and generate comprehension questions. I would post the document on the platform w used, with questions imbedded in the article so they didn't have to search the whole article, just the previous sections. Easy peasy for the sub: I left them a copy with the answers, and then they could read it aloud, pause, have them answer the questions, continue reading. Most of my subs really liked it.
Students often tried to turn in work that was AI generated. Either they would forget to ask it to write at a 9th grade level, and I'd get some college level response about symbolism in To Kill a Mockingbird, or I would get something so bland and boring, but error free. No matter how a kid struggles with writing, their own voice is going to be so much more interesting. I had students write really beautiful things that I know was their own work because I saw them handwriting it. There were times they surprised themselves. AI takes that discovery from them.
And apropos of nothing, two deer just appeared behind my fence eating on some scrubby trees. (there's a buffer of natural trees etc between our yard and the yards behind us. )If I hadn't sat down to write, I wouldn't have seen them. They're very well fed and quite pretty.

Best to take your time with Venmo and Zelle, for 5 times isn't a bad thing. I hAve two friends who both accidentally sent money to the wrong people. One for nearly $1000 who thankfully got it back because the person he sent it to was a good soul and the other for a small amount who did not get it back. It's always the most challenging with common names!

Sun again. There are beach warnings for high surf but I sure don't see any signs of wind in our back yard. Some people go out on the jetties to watch the big waves at this time of year but it is kind of dangerous. No thanks. I almost feel guilty having nice weather here when it is so bitterly cold elsewhere. But we will get ours when it rains for a week straight.
So I did the gym yesterday and then bought some more clay. Lifting the 25 pound bag reminds me of how much strain it is for me to carry the same around on my azz. Today I will again do the gym and go to the studio and start new items. Same routine which I find comforting.
Regarding books, one of the best I have read is The Forgery of Venus. It is the story of a young artist who falls in with some forgers and then mysterious things happen. Quite good. Liz I hope you find a good choice for the group. The fruit treats look great! Nice presentation.
And yeah don't get me started on AI. I listened to a NPR interview with a reporter who designed an AI of himself to do interviews and had it call his friends. The result was superficially believable yet his friends all figured it out because of lack of nuance. Totally appropriate responses and yet lack of personal guile and humor. And yeah CC no telling what mischief could occur in the legal world.
Speaking of mischief, CC so glad you have the vent in and will soon be free of repair workers. You deserve your home to yourself. Our lawn service is here and while they are pretty quick, we always have to chase around and get the dogs in and make sure the gates get closed and put up with noise. Guess I am a curmudgeon.

So I just sent my very first Venmo. Only took about 5 attempts. Lordy I am so tech challenged. So much of it defies logic. Sent $ to our house cleaner who hurt her knee walking dogs.
Well DD I am glad your mom has accepted hospice. They will help her a lot. My mom was on it for a year and then got kicked off because she did not die. About 6 month later they put her back on but equipment was changed out and it was dumb. Making that decision is a recognition of change to come and it sounds like your mom has a hard time with change. Wishing the best. Stay warm.
Not sure whats for dinner tonight - DH will go to the hippie dippy grocery in search of pot pie and other delights. Probably no banana bread.
