Happy birthday to Elise, and to you, because a newborn Mom was born on this date too.
It's a funny thing this long term grief. BFFs oldest son left us when he was 13. He would be 39 now. We talk about him a lot, and laugh, but sometimes the grief sideswipes me, so i can't even imagine how it would be if it were my child. When our nephew , his younger brother got married a couple of years ago, I cried and cried thinking about how his brother wouldn't be there to be the best man. It caught me by surprise, because I thought the tears for him were all spent, but evidently not.
I did find some nice tops yesterday, and 2 pairs of crop pants in colors I already own. But why would I buy them? Because the current ones are looking shabby, but they go with so many things I already own. Happy to have nice replacements for them from Ann Taylor Loft at a very good price.
It was 90 yesterday! DH and I went to the beach counter service place at one of the big lskes in Minnesota. I am a cheap date, DH ordered a meal, and I had him add on beans and rice for me for $2.50. They have a lovely plaza where you can watch the sun set and the sailboats come in.
Today we are going to have a picnic at another beach. BFF has a rare day off, so we will meet her there. Could be 90 also today! I'm loving it. Next week will be more in line with average temps. That will be okay too.
116 - not much time to eat with the traveling yesterday
Today is the 21st missed birthday for Elise. She would have been 53. The picture on FB was on her 21st birthday.
One of DS's childhood friends had her first child (a daughter) at 18. She went on to complete nursing school, got married and has a handsome husband, 3 sons in addition, and a lovely home. She put a contemplative post on FB recently on her daughter's 16th birthday about how she never envisioned that her life would go so well in the future at the time her daughter was born. I have been so happy to see her progress through life. One of the benefits of FB.
Today we will have a chillier Justice walk (it is 46 out) though the temperature should warm to about 70 today. DH is golfing today and I will do some errands. Not sure what else or what dinner entails but it is a good thing to have a down day as we make the 2+ hour trip each way to Central Mass for SIL's birthday party tomorrow.
Have a fulfilling Friday!
Pretty close to the East coast! Be safe driving!

So nice that DSD likes to spend time with you. She will visit in Florida too even though it may be more spaced out.
Lots of people in Florida have dog strollers for the short walkers. I actually have one for Justice but never use it.

Yeah, houses always seem to need something done. The Cape house I sold last year had had everything redone on the exterior and the floors, furnace and AC done inside. Next up was contemplating replacement of 2 bathrooms and the kitchen cabinets. I just didn't have the energy for it.
I am sure that expensive parking for our little airport will be coming but for now it is free. And an Uber back and forth is pretty cheap as an alternative. DS is 10 minutes from his airport and just uses Uber.

I was never this close to the airport. The closest was Boston, technically an hour if there was no traffic but there was ALWAYS traffic so you had to plan for 90 minutes or more. The other appeal to our super close Florida airport is that it is tiny - only one check-in line, one security line, one waiting area, and one gate. Also only one airline right now (Breeze) but JetBlue and American are trying to add flights. I don't know how that is going to wor****il they expand the airport.
I hope you found some cute tops! I sometimes have good luck at TJ Maxx, but recently I have found nice ones at White House Black Market.

This weather is helping me forget the less than stellar early summer temps and all the smoke. It really couldn't be nicer. Tomorrow we're having a picnic lunch at one of the beaches in Minneapolis.
I picked another bouquet of Zinnias just yesterday. Everyday they are blooming now is a gift, because we are past the average 1st frost date. 36 years ago, my MIL died very suddenly at 60 (massive heart attack in her livingroom) on October 1. It was a spectacular fall day, and the frost had not yet come that year either. It came that night. On October 2, all my flowers were dead from a heavy frost. It seemed fitting at the time, as we were in such grief. I think about that every year on the 2nd, especially if the flowers are still blooming. DH was 29 when she passed. Tonight at dinner he told me he's lived many more years without a mother than he lived with a mother. I still miss her and DFIL. (DFIL died of a broken heart 3 years later. DH was an orphan at 32)
