Your day sounds so lovely and fitting Liz. I love the detail of toasting with DH's typical snack. I'm wondering if any of your children became sailors?
I love the chart idea. I may need to adapt that. My niece did something along those lines. Everyone in the family was assigned a different color marker, and then wrote on the same poster 5 things they want to do this summer. The littlest guy wrote play with my brother as one of his choices. Aww.
Paula we have yet to make it out to kayak! First the spring was so cool, and now every time we carve out a time to do it, it's raining or threatening rain. Maybe Friday.
All the rain has yielded a tropical leaf canopy here. It is so lush and green. The leaves are so dense I sometimes have to turn on the lights in the house, even on a sunny day. We have more fireflies too. I think they need damp vegetation, like leaves, on the ground. And I saw a monarch butterfly near my milkweed plants, and it looks like there might be some eggs on leaves. We'll see if any caterpillars hatch.
I had an encouraging workout yesterday. I felt like I wasn't making a lot of progress, but yesterday I was able to increase the weight on every machine. And I noticed it is easier now to squat and stay squatting for awhile when I'm gardening and doing chores. Much easier on the back.
BFFs grandchildren are here. They came over yesterday around noon and had a sleepover. It's non stop energy! We played at the park, watched a movie, ran in the sprinkler, used the hot tub, and had a bonfire. Today they are playing hide and seek in the yard, while we sit on the porch and supervise. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go workout again just to rest!
If it doesn't rain, overcast right now, I may also go to the little farmers market in my town. Its kind of fun, although we are a suburb, we started out as a little farming town, so we still have a historic downtown. It's not much, just a couple blocks, and really, the only reason we went there initially was the post office. But in the last 10 years or so, A few boutiques and restaurants opened, making it more of a destination.
This weekend, we are going to a 40th Anniversary Party of college friends. We were all dating at the same time and I remember their wedding very well. DH and I will celebrate 38 years this August. And my birthday is on Sunday. DH and I have tickets to a local musical based on a notorious murder in Duluth in 1979. Then out to dinner. On Monday, the 28th, Operation Downstairs Bedroom takes place at my parents. Maybe. I'll believe it when it actually happens.
117.4 - 3rd day in a row.
Sending the remainder of DH's ashes out to sea yesterday went well. It was an absolutely perfect summer day: warm, sunny, low humidity and a slight breeze. DSD's cousin is as good or perhaps a better sailer than DH was and her boat is almost exactly like his day sailor. We toasted him with lemonade and cookies because that was his usual boat snack, then released his ashes along with a small bouquet of flowers from the garden. He would have loved it I think. We had a wonderful lunch afterwards in Edgartown, then spent some time visiting with the cousin's mother and children. What a lively, fun bunch! It had been a few years since I had seen them (pre-COVID and before deceased DH got too far along to visit). Their home is right on the harbor in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard so it is a beautiful place to visit (and take a boat out from). The cousin used to be a teacher and her mother was also in education and it shows. They have a big poster up with a list for every family member with the 5 fun things they want to do this summer and one learning item (which can be new or getting better at something). They check them off as they are accomplished. My DSD was added to the poster too as she is spending another 2 weeks there at the end of August.
A less active day is planned today. Definitely a morning Justice walk, followed by a trip to the National Seashore. The closest beach which we can walk to is the bay side of the Cape, but the National Seashore is on the ocean side so requires a short drive. Those beaches are absolutely beautiful and the water is full of seals. Of course the seals also mean sharks periodically so I don't go into tha****er.
Not much else going on here. Have a weird Wednesday!

I envy your kayaking. We really need to get in gear and figure out a transportation system for ours. First we need to have a hitch installed on the Jeep, then find a trailer to take them places (ideally a used one).

I hope both Tesla and you did ok after your dental appointments. It does sound like where you live is quite idyllic, though potentially not warm enough for me?

Having a revolving door at one's home does get tiring. I don't think DH and I will be alone again until Sunday night. Looking forward to that.
Good for you reaching out to gather with people you enjoy being with. I find it hard to do that with people I haven't seen recently, though I should. Family members and close friends are a different story. I think our home feels doubly busy because we joined 2 separate families and friends when we got together.

123.2. Down a smidge.
Fun, busy day today. Went kayaking with girlfriend today. We paddled for over 2 hours! The weather was perfect!
DH and I decided to go out for Mexican (again)! Surprise, surprise! I was so hungry that I ate too many chips and then couldn't eat much of my dinner or drink my Margarita because I was too full!
I love the idea of a fence for the dog Liz! Emma dog would sun herself all day I think! I too still have some of DH's ashes left that I really don't know what I am going to do with them! We already scattered them in the two places he requested, I gave his parents little urns with some ashes, the boys and I also have little urns/jars as well. Maybe I'll find a bit larger decorative urn/container to put the rest in.
DD, glad you were able to enjoy this great weather with some porch time and spend time with your nephew!
Diane, are you having scrabble withdrawals? Hope all the dentist appointments went well. Last dental appointment Bella had they took all but 2 of her teeth. Needless to say, she doesn't get dental appointments anymore!
lol! I have spreadsheets for my photography biz but hate using them!
I started doing it right after Ben died. My coworkers gifted me it in a wonderful basket of take care of yourself items!
Hope all goes well for all family members at the dentist this afternoon.
