Greetings all

Lazing about while my hair dries. Then it is off to pick up grocery items for tomorrow's party. I won't pick up the big deli tray until tomorrow at 3 but need a bunch of other things that I want to get handled today. It is overcast now but I am hoping we get sun tomorrow. Fall color is unusually good here this year - ordinarily it's just anaemic yellow - but something about moisture or temperature is making more color this year. I do miss the midwestern fall color. Just not the same here.

Good news - I think DH found my Dad's military service number on Ancestry. Looks like a roster of his navy CB unit with a likely looking number. So brother can quit bugging me about it.

Still lots of household chores to do. Too late for a bulldozer.

We binge watched all the the new season of The Diplomat. Great show.

Liz enjoy the halloween event and pumpkin couture. It is hard for me to imagine a Halloween in a place where kids don't come around. We have always had so many visitors. Early on the real little kids will come - before dark - then later they get taller. And yeah sometimes the same kids come more than once but who cares. Makes me think of the covid year when people were sending candies down cardboard chutes in our neighborhood in order to social distance. We put out a tray of candy on a tv tray outside the garage and refilled as needed.

Paula the countdown is on! Isn't it fun to kind of start over in a new house and pretend to be college kids furnishing new digs?

Peps nice that you can enjoy freedom from the school onslaught of sugar on Halloween. Good candy choices. Of we have extra I will take it to the studio or gallery. But I admit to purchasing some Lindt truffles as treats for the adults here.

Well I can tell that winter is on the way because my skin feels dry. Not sure if we have had the furnace run yet but somehow my skin knows.

Thinking of you DD and wishing peaceful transitions.

121.5. No Halloween candy for us but we have been on a Whoppers and Milk Dud kick lately! I tell DH not to pick them up but then he does! My willpower is pretty good at the grocery store, not so much at home!

Bible study with the ladies today. I sure am going to miss that group. I might attend via speaker phone for awhile but also plan to make spiritual roots in FL too!

More packing up of the few pieces of furniture we are taking with us! We used those moving blankets and then wrapped them in stretch wrap! Not too much more to pack! Being efficient has its drawbacks. I've needed a handful of items that are already packed away! Go figure!

Peps, I'm glad your Dad lives close enough that you can visit him frequently. I thought to myself after seeing Mom this week that in reality it could be the last time I see her! We will come back to WI for Christmas but not go to where she lives (3 hours away) and then probably won't be bac****il next summer! I keep hearing you say you are pretty content with how you look and feel at your current weight. Perhaps you are at goal after all. I think you look fabulous and we all know how strong you are!

Liz, I envy all the fun social activities you and DH are involved in! I'm hoping for the same in our new community! We will also need to try to plan a get together in FL at some point. I'm up for a whole group meet up in Sedona as well. Perhaps Spring?

Been MIA for a few days for no particular reason...just not much going on, I suppose.

Glad everyone is doing well - even though there is moving stress, Halloween gathering stress (beautiful Princess bush, btw, Diane!), transitional stress with parents, etc...

Weight has been really stable in the 204 range this week. Am working a little bit on getting it to go lower, but honestly, it's been hard to match my habits and choices to my intentions. I think it's hard for me at this point because I feel so much better and look so much better than I did 18 months ago, that getting to the "ideal" weight is less pressing. Day at a time, I suppose...

Halloween candy and treats are so off my radar this year because I'm not at school! I was at the market yesterday and realized there were only two more days until Halloween. I thought I better get some candy to hand out. That was really my first thought about Halloween candy. I bought a few little bags of Paydays and the old $100,000 bars - they are called something else now, Grand something... Hopefully, those candies won't call my name too loudly.

Off to a home health care visit for my dad and then an early workout with my trainer. Today is shot day for me and Blitz. Blitz now gets B12 shots weekly.

Later gators!

117.8

Busy day as I want to do the usual Justice walk at 7 (when it is still dark before the time change). I have golf at 9, then tonight we have a Halloween dinner dance. I am wearing the pumpkin embellished outfit I wore for the Nine and Dine today, then my new boots, hat, and an Amazon purchased cowgirl shirt for the dance tonight.

No Halloween stuff on the actual day tomorrow though I would love to see one of our favorite restaurants decorated for it. They do it up big but there will be too many people there tomorrow night.

The temperatures are dropping here so the AC has been off during the days. It is 65 this morning and expected to be close to 50 the following 2 mornings. Fast change from a few weeks ago when it was so hot and muggy.

Have a thoroughly lovely Thursday!

Same here in Florida because they over air condition all the buildings. Strangely, they don't do it as much in Massachusetts during the hot summer days.

Thanks for the warning on the Reclast. I am surprised they had you on Fosamax with a gastric sleeve. Most everything I read cautions against that and my PCP said that the oral meds would not be a good idea for me.

So sorry you had to have such an uncomfortable but really valuable meeting. My mother broke her hip in her early 60's when she fell while drinking. She was a long-term alcoholic (and a nasty one at that). We had a similar family meeting at the rehab hospital when the truth of it came out and she was told in no uncertain terms that if she drank and fell again she might never walk. It was so hard to tell the truth about her drinking for the same reasons you expressed - it was a family secret not to be told. We had a second round of that discussion when she developed congestive heart failure about 10 years later because she had sunk back into drinking though not quite as deeply. She did stop completely after that thank goodness and I enjoyed my relationship with her for her last 15 years, as did my children.

I guess I have been making cottage pie over the years and calling it shepherd's pie (I have always used beef).

So beautiful! I can see why you hate cutting it back but it is worth it to have it bloom again next year!

I'm not surprised you are dropping weight in the midst of all this work getting ready to move. I assume the inspection turned out well?

No, I don't have to do any massage, so no discomfort other than the injections which weren't bad at all. It is supposed to take up to 2 weeks to get its final form which is when they want to see me in case they need to add a bit. Better to go a little less than more of what is needed. Maybe the fillers are made out of different stuff these days?

Hugs to you, DD. Doing the right thing is often not easy or comfortable. Keeping your mom's secrets would mean her not getting the help she so desperately needs. You did good!

Haha, ABAH. I now have a name for a rule I always follow. Air conditioning is a blessing and a curse. Even in the summer, I never go to the movies, or out to dinner, theater or a concert without a hoodie, cardigan or wrap.
