I love how you interact with your dad! Such a simple way to bring him and you both so much joy.

I think we have 6 times as many crystal shops here as grocery stores! And 20 times more woo-woo establishments as grocery stores (psychics, aura photos, salt rooms, chakra cleansers, mystics, crystals, reiki, drum circle leaders, etc). While it's very true the Native Americans view Sedona as a sacred, spiritual place, the new agers have absolutely distorted all that for their gain. Someone in the 80s wrote a book to try to drum up tourism and started the nonsense about vortexes here. One of which was "moved" because it was in the middle of the airport runway. If you can move it to have tourists not gather on the runway, is it really a spiritual vortex? And it's just grown from there.
I dislike all the woo-woo ridiculousness. It's one of the most beautiful places in the world so I understand why opportunists would want to make it mean more than that to try make a buck from the tourists who eat up the crystal stuff. But it's a waste of money in my opinion.
wow! Look at you!
BTW, I don't think it's ADHD. I think it's more of a response (possibly somewhat compulsive) to the desire for purpose and achievement. It's a classic "self medication" move. Adopting a new hobby is much healthier than taking to drink or drugs or sex! I see nothing wrong with it when you keep it at a level of affordability and keep your expectations in check. It's no different to me than having the right shoes, clothing and equipment for working out.
202.8 - a much better read on the scale for my psyche!
It is a perfectly gray day here. We have had a bit of rain this morning. There is a soft winter wind moving the branches which looks especially nice on the black walnut which still has yellowing leaves on it. This is a better gray than the weeks of gray Tule fog we've had.
I had a great visit with my dad yesterday. We planned motorcycle shopping for March or April.
He quite liked my idea that getting a motorcycle in the spring instead of the winter with the rain and cold. I also told him that he should be off his walker before getting his motorcycle. He agreed and indicated that he'll need to up his game on his exercise to accomplish that. He even asked me to look at Consumer Reports to find a highly recommended vehicle. I enjoyed keeping him engaged. I figure that's a good thing. I think because I didn't dismiss his motorcycle idea he was more talkative and went on about all sorts of things I couldn't figure out. At one point I realized he was confusing himself, so I offered to turn the tv on for him. We watched tv while he chatted on about how hard it is to find channels these days and work the tv. Yesterday he believed it was his shortcoming and not the manufacturer's. A rare ownership of his cognitive decline. I made sure to invite him (again) to lunch this weekend and mentioned again he'll be coming to my house for Christmas Eve. He seemed delighted. I love when he is feeling happy.
Great workout yesterday. I'm upping my game a bit by trying a new approach to lifting - increasing the weight while lowering the number of reps and actually reaching "failure". That technique is supposed to build muscle more effectively. We'll see.
Liz, the photo you posted on FB of the Cape Cod house was so wintery and charming! Pretty to look at, but an entirely different thing to be living in it!
CC, is there some type of mystical native lore about Sedona? I saw a former colleague post something on FB about her visit to the mystical and spiritual spots of Sedona. She's one of these people who is all into crystals, etc...
I bought a PowerBall ticket. I couldn't resist! Costs less than a cup of coffee, right? Hey, if I win, I'll pay for us all to get together in Sedona or ?!?!?!?!?!
Fingers crossed for a winning Wednesday!

New hobby alert! The plaid is messy, but for my first 8 cookies, I'm pretty proud! Please squint when admiring
...
The family friend and her daughter came by yesterday and staked a claim on 3 lamps, 3 rugs, and a mirror. They don't move in until the end of January, but nice to know I will have more clearing of stuff in a month!
The deck/roofers will finish stucco and the deck part today and paint the new stucco tomorrow and start on replacing the stairs in new Trex. No wonder it was so expensive.
Otherwise, today I frost...
Take care!
116.8 - I seem to always lose a bit on travel days. Not enough time to snack I guess LOL.
Over 6 inches of snow greeted us at the house yesterday afternoon. Very pretty but Justice doesn't like walking in it at all. I hope we can get him out this morning for a bit. We are going to be gone all day doing errands. The snow should be gone by the weekend as it is supposed to gradually warm up to the 50s with rain on Friday.
Not much else to report this morning. We need to get moving soon and take Justice out as we have to drop the rental car off by 11:15, go to lunch in DH's former town, then go to my former town to see SIL. We are going to help her put the Christmas tree up, get my many packages sent there, and take her out to dinner.
Have a wrapping Wednesday!

I so miss Shel. I think of her often and how brave she was in her last days. Do you remember how she made her daughter's graduation party so special? I guess it was one of the last gifts from her.

I definitely would not have the patience to make those. I make the easiest cookie ever: little almond and butter balls rolled in confectionary sugar.

I agree tha****er aerobics should be a pleasant time in the water not a freezing experience LOL.

I guess everything has a little computer in it that sometimes needs to be reset.
I hope several rugs and lots of cookies left with your friend!
