Hope you got to the Keys safely Liz and hope the temps are more tolerable! Record lows again tomorrow here. Yuck. By Wednesday it might be warm enough for water aerobics.

120.6 or .8 today!

Church, napping and working on a new product line and pricing today! Made shrimp with cheesy grits, always a favorite. Easy and quick too!

Tomorrow I'm going to make a red curry Thai soup. Perfect for the chilly weather!

Yay for returning house cleaners. I've never used one except for a short time when Ben was very sick and I needed to provide full time care for him! Might consider it as I age!

Glad your DH can help coworker out with her tech issues! Gives you a little break from her too!

I wanted to do my Bible study outside but just too cold here. I in fact wore my winter coat to church today!

Your menu sounds wonderful!

What a wonderful visit with your Dad! Weekends are made for napping, or when retired any day! We took a nice one after church today! The dogs love it too!

Greetings all

More sun here and even my Apple watch agrees. Just finished brunch, Studio buddy is here going over computer stuff with DH. He is quite patient and defuses her goofy outbursts. No doubt he is channeling DD's DH in calming the ranting. Lots of chatter but I am not sure what is being accomplished. I am Switzerland.

No fun living without a refrigerator Liz. I don't blame people for not carrying a refer up three flights but I do blame the store for saying they would. Not cool (LOL cool). Meanwhile everything else in Fla is cold. I saw on TV that there is a place you can deliver frozen iguanas to for their safety and without needing some kind of permit. Who knew you needed an iguana license! Enjoy the trip and hope it warms up. It is warmer here than there. The dogs are basking on the deck.

Peps nice that you had a good Dad day. Glad you fixed his tv. Bring your dad some motorcycle magazines to look at - if there still are such things.

CC you are doing great with your food prep. All that stuff sounds great. Reminds us all that healthy eating does not have to be labor intensive nor include mucho carbs. Are the bats around or were the evicted?

So our house cleaner thinks she can come back on the 11th. Not a minute too soon! We are managing but could use the help. One other good thing - I had the two bags of old sheets and such from the linen closet. The local pet store also does a lot of animal rescue and is a good place. They were grateful to get those bags of sheets for dog bedding that I think they send along with an adopted pet. Score for me. Dump source for more junk!

196.2

It was warm enough to have my coffee outside this morning. Unheard of for February! The plants in my yard that usually bloom in April and May are starting to bloom. Crazy. Kirby and I walked and I made a nice lunch I can have for several days: lean ground beef mixed with a few tbsp of Kinder's taco blend and a rinsed can of kidney beans. I put a scoop in a bowl with a sprinkle of shredded cheese, a few halved cherry tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a couple of spoonfuls of salsa. Yummy taco salad.

I'm marinating some chicken thighs in a homemade Korean marinade for grilling. I've got steamed green beans to go with it.

I think I'm going to go power-wash the entryway. The flagstones are covered in dark residue from the Mexican sage bushes that were blooming along there. I'm procrastinating it, but it'll be satisfying.

Off to work!

201. Hmmmm.... not sure what's going on here... Possibly due to a no poop day yesterday???

I am finding it hard to believe it is February already! Boy, January seemed to fly by. It is nice that the days are getting gradually longer. I don't enjoy the early dark too much. I am a summer person at heart.

DD, it takes a special type of teenager to go off and spend 6 months or a year abroad. That alone speaks volumes of your intrinsic curiosity and adventurous nature. I'm not at all surprised by how well you are navigating your return to Brazil. I am not as adventurous as you.

Liz, frankly, I would return the fridge and buy it from another retailer. Since the delivery team refused to deliver as promised, I don't see why you are under obligation to accept delivery at a later date. Also, refusal on the deliver company's part has cost you time, caused you inconvenience, and possible loss of perishables. I really do hate lousy customer service. Drive safely to the Keys. I hope the cold passes and you are back to seasonal norms ASAP!

Had a GREAT visit with Dad yesterday. We ate lunch together during which he chatted a great deal (about what, I wasn't always too sure...except that he is still seriously considering purchasing a motorcycle since he is no longer able to drive a car...LOL) and he was in great spirits. He really liked his fast food burger and french fries. I took him for a walk through the garden and back through the main area of the assisted living facility. We ran into some of his friends, which was nice for him. We went back to his apartment and had a cookie and watched TV. I set his TV back to CNN which he likes and left him to have his nap.

I also had a nap. Something came over me after Ron went off to church and I put on my jammies around 5 pm and crawled into bed. I slept until about 7, which unfortunately made falling asleep last night a little problematic.

I am going to enjoy another "Free Day" with no real obligations beyond the normal household and dog chores. And since my Saturday was somnolent, I am hoping for a more energetic Sunday!

Just got the tennis tournament info for today. Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, is playing in the final. We watched her play on Thursday. Her career earnings are close to $10 million but she has had several injuries over the last few years. Pretty exciting for our little Florida club!

Crazy that all of that at you would even have to spend a moment worrying about the pipes in Florida. And booo to that salesperson and crew for not following through!

Our days are jam packed, more than I anticipated. Tomorrow we leave for a beach about 5 hours away. We will be on our own, and are looking forward to a few quiet days. One of our friends has a beach house in the area, and he said he will try to come on the weekend and meet up with us. But if he doesn't, we're fine. I'm a little nervous about going to the big bus station (it's HUGE, bus travel here is well utilized) alone, but whatever we've attempted so far has worked out well. One of the benefits of traveling: you get to test yourself sometimes, and use problem solving skills, and do novel things. I don't enjoy crossword puzzles or Suduko, but I can challenge my brain this way. : )

Today is the birthday of one of my friends. Every year I send greetings that one day we will celebrate together again. That day is today!

It's a lovely sunny day here. The extreme heat has held off for the most part, and we're amazed by the weather, and, well, just everything. Some days I can't believe we are here, after all the planning, and the many years before when all I longed for was an opportunity to return. I've had some interesting time tunnel experiences when I come up on a place I last saw when I was 18. The 18 year old cried rivers of tears the first time she had to leave and is so happy to know that we finally did get to come back and live here for awhile. And she never could have anticipated the joy of bringing DH along for the ride.
