I think some people repeat their parent's behaviors but others learn from their parent's failings and are present for their own children in a way they wish their parents had been.

Sometimes having company over can provide good incentive to get the house in order once in a while. Ours is looking like it needs some good cleaning but we don't have company for a few more weeks so I am having a hard time feeling motivated. Maybe on a rainy, not-busy day.
The spot removal is strictly vanity driven. Though I shield my face from the sun now the spots have appeared from those early days of sun worshiping when I would let my face burn and sometimes even oil it up (what were we thinking back then?). So I have a lot of spots on the sides of my face especially.

The kids will probably stay mad for a while, but then they will wake up, mature and realize how foolish they are being (and start looking forward to seeing you and visiting Florida).
Is there anywhere to store DC1's albums? I think they will regret not taking them someday but perhaps right now they can't deal with their feelings about them and your move?
I was overwhelmed just by sorting and tossing pictures last year. You are amazing with the scrapbooking! I just gave each kid a small plastic bin with their pictures and some memorabilia in it.

You need some downtime once in a while. Maybe you relaxed yesterday vs paper sorting?
I actually don't want a drastic change from the filler. I just want to reverse a few years off my face around my mouth. I seem to have developed a serious bit_h resting face with the way my lips turn down. Hopefully that saggy part will be improved and ideally no one will really notice much except that I possibly look happier/refreshed?

That does sound like a phenomenal trip! Maybe I should put Galveston on my list LOL. The 2 pounds will settle right off once you have a few days of normal eating under your belt. I too suffer somewhat nutritionally when I travel because there aren't enough healthy choices. I can see why Peps found that easier on a cruise because usually there are more venues to seek out things like healthy snacks.
Sorry about the family drama - though technically it isn't your problem it can still be disturbing to be on the periphery listening to it.

Wow! You've never heard of chili over potatoes? It's such a "normal" thing here in CA that they serve it in the elementary schools for lunch!
I CANNOT do scary movies at all, but hearing ghost stories is okay. Long story, when I was in high school, there was a lot of paranormal activity in the house we lived in. You weirdly get used to it. We moved my senior year, and nothing followed. It was an interesting few years in the paranormal house. (I hesitate to use the word haunted, because it wasn't malevolent, some of it was funny).

You are right Diane, I think my Mom is embarrassed about having an outburst for no reason. I just said, I figured it was a misunderstanding and of course we will go ahead with your birthday party celebration. She was always difficult, and was never the kind of Mom I could go to with my problems or count on for really anything, but we could have fun shopping and traveling etc., back in the day. I try to remember those times.
