Happy weigh in Liz, Justice and DH! Everyone did a 3 week vacation with great success!

Yep Peps, numbers can screw with our minds. I think I am still in the obese category. But now that I am a member of the I Do Not Care Club (have any of you seen these new internet reels? Some super funny stuff), well, I do not care. Not saying other people should not care, not at all. But I am surprised about all the things I have stopped caring about in the last year. I'd like to think it's because of some new enlightenment, but really, it's just that I am tired. :)

Speaking of tired, I have been lazing around reading. My sleep has been sketchy the last few nights, and it's still unseasonably cool and overcast to boot. I even took a delicious nap this afternoon. I'm going to continue with reading. I did start a hot dish in the crockpot. Oh, and for a snack, I cut up some veggies and made myself a personal veggie tray. It was good!

In honor of John Lewis, there is a "Good Trouble" rally tomorrow at our city hall. We are going to attend. John Lewis is an absolute hero to me, and I'm pleased to pay him tribute, and yes, maybe get up to some good trouble.

If Stephen Colbert wants to continue his career, I anticipate he will find another platform and I would imagine much of his audience will follow. I sure will. I fear the local news here that leads in his show will lose viewers. They'll lose us. That's why we choose them currently, because they lead into Colbert's show.

We are sad about the Late Show, too. CBS is apparently pulling the plug because they don't want to compete in that time slot any longer. Makes no sense to me, but what do I know. They cancelled Blue Bloods with high ratings and a cast that wanted to continue. Killed NCIS Hawaii because it was too costly - even though it had extremely high ratings. Instead, they spun off NCIS Sydney and split the cost with an Australian production company.

Greetings all

Lazing about on a cloudy morning. DH has gone to lunch with the Romeos at this bar that is a super dive but has good food. He usually brings home fish and chips. Microwave reheated fish and chips is not so great so I will stick to shrimp.

I have been gym absent a few days due to various chores but will get in there today for sure. Miss my Prince music. DH has been taking dog walks and he walks more distance than I do which kind of bugs me but I will do what I can do. I have short stubby legs and take about 3 steps for each one he takes.

So Liz congrats on no weight gain during the big trip. Ditto Mike. I am not surprised. Travel means more activity and less grazing opportunity. Good on you both. Wishing you the best on thyroid exam.

Peps you are definitely in the normal category. I can attest as I have seen you recently. One thing about size and body image I have observed is that those of us who are not tall may appear proportionately wider or heavier just cuz. We may inadvertently think we are wider because we are not taller. Another reason that BMI is not that important. So there.

Time to get out and about. I have eaten eggs on toast with some scraps left for dogs. On to the gym and studio.

I am in mourning because Stephen Colbert is being canceled. Boo Hoo.

I would say you are definitely normal as far as your silhouette is concerned. I really hate the BMI categorization. It just doesn't work for a lot of people. DH still has some small handles at his waist so looks like the overweight image there though his legs are quite slim. But he weighed in at 181 this morning - another loss even after our trip. His goal is 180 but he is starting to get the hungry horrors. I'm really glad that the tirzepatide pretty much keeps those away for me.

200.4 again today. This bodes well for a good drop within the next week or so.

Yesterday I was reading about the carnivore approach to eating. Kind of fascinating what people want to believe about that kind of diet. But, that's not my point... In the visuals of BMI they showed an AI of a man at a 31-32 BMI (which is where I am - Obesity Class 1). I tried to drag the photo, but it was protected. Dang it!!!! But I was able to drag a cartoon chart of BMI silhouettes. According to the cartoon humans, I am definitely in the normal range. Another helpful example to me of why I mustn't let the BMI measurement get to me.

I have thought more deeply about BMI and why it bothers me. I believe it is because it triggers my "I'm not normal" feelings. My young life would have been a lot easier (in my mind), if I had been more normal. The traits of being a "gay" kid, having a bone disease, becoming overweight, being "pretty", being artistic rather than sporty, all took their toll and left me with emotional baggage. I can remember wanting to be more normal as a kid. Later, as an obese adult, I wanted be able to eat like a "normal" person. (Only, my idea of normal was eating like an athletic 16 year old boy, and we all know how much 16 year old boys can eat!)

Today is all my own! The only thing I have scheduled is my NUT session and dinner with the Friday night crew - Ron, BFF, Auntie Kathryn and me. I have already put up a wire screen on the screenless screen door that goes from the kitchen to the garage this morning. Over the years the screening wore and stretched being pushed on by doggy heads and paws, so we took it off when it became torn and useless. I like the solid wire screen better. It'll do it's job keeping dogs from going into the garage if the kitchen door is open. Grizz does not think much of this blockade. His displeasure is quite clear! The garage is a favorite of his. But he's so little it's easy to miss him if sneaks in.

Yes!!!! Like Liz, I wish you all a Fantastic Friday!!!

118 (Justice is 11) - so neither of us gained weight over the last 3 weeks. Very, very happy with that! I think I may have lost a bit in the beginning in Spain when SIL really couldn't go out so I was walking a lot but not eating much for lunch. I made up for that on other days such as around the wedding and in London.

Yesterday was a run-around and do errands day. Today will include a bit of that but different kinds. I'm up early (still somewhat on Europe time), so hopefully have time to get a good walk with Justice before I have to go to an appointment for a thyroid ultrasound. About 18 months ago when I had an MRI for my shoulder they found some nodules on my thyroid. I've had an ultrasound and a biopsy. The biopsy was negative for one module but didn't have enough material for the second one to be sure. So I am having one final ultrasound to put it to bed. My thyroid hormones are normal and I have no other issues so I doubt there is anything wrong but my doctor convinced me to do this last one.

DS arrives around noon and DD and DSIL around 6:30 or so. We have a dinner reservation at 7:30. It will be nice to have most of my family in the house. Justice will be thrilled.

Have a fulfillingly fantastic Friday!

That does sound scary! We are looking forward to having the yard fenced in and in the meantime put Justice back on a long lead in the backyard while we were out there last night.
