Greetings all

Another sunny breezy summer day here. The flowers are looking great and the sweet peas are very slowly rising. Wish they would hurry up.

Today's plans are the usual. Walk at the gym and visit the studio. Gallery duty is scheduled for next month and I get off light which is good because I have the guest coming and a lot of other things.

DD good on you for having the experience of being tired vs being fried. Huge difference. Tired can feel good. Fried never does. More flowers needed.

Peps we are loving your travel stories. One wonders about those elaborate churches and structures and how they did not serve the average person except as a reminder that there is a separation from the cruelties of nature; however slight. Or the religious inspiration I guess. Of course, excesses of the wealthy are the seeds of revolution. Still it is fun to see all the grand stuff and think about how much effort went in to it. Austria sounds like the best! And dog watching is so fun in Europe. I remember all the dogs at Versailles - quite the variety. European cities are so much more dog friendly. But the dogs are better behaved than mine. And BTW you probably know that foreign countries have far stronger and better cold meds.

So CC you are becoming quite the handy person to have fixed your own lights! Hope your Dad gets out of the hospital soon with good reports. I guess golf is a good thing... Good tip on the national park pass.

Paula the cards arrived! Thank you so much. Very nice work. Hope your mom continues to recover and does not get too much cabin fever.

Liz a fire pit sounds fun. Marshmallows?

I made hamburgers last night. Pan cooked. Amazing how good it tastes when made with the 95% lean local grass fed beef. Probably more tonight,

We have been watching Sirens, a series about two sisters and snotty rich people. Amusing. Finished Black Doves, a spy series.

Well time to toss in more laundry and get moving on this truly lazy summer day.

123.9. Exactly the same. Pizza didn?t do any harm!

Very hot here the next 3 days. DH and I took our walk (I refer to them as my DH walks in my head, just like Liz takes Justice walks) early due to the heat and we were still sweating like crazy. Rest of the day will be spent in the comfort of our air conditioned home!

I think I might make chicken club pita sandwiches for dinner. DH wanted me to grill out. Standing in front of a 500 degree grill with a 100 degree heat index! No thank you! Perhaps we will make an ice cream run later. He has been hinting at wanting to do that all day!

I think DC1 will have their second date with their new person today. Hope it goes well!

Got a few more art fair cards made today. I should be set for the next fair that is in July (just a one dayer this time).

Im so excited for this hot weather! I finally get to wear one of my new Tommy Bahama dresses to church! Still deciding we will go to friends house tomorrow and go to their neighborhood pool with them. We said yes, but I can imagine it will be quite crowded.

I think it's just a little cold. Didn't hold me back one bit today.

Who knew the National Park passes were so reasonable for seniors? I have a few more years to qualify but that sounds like something DH and I would get good use of! I'll have to Google where all the National Parks are located. We buy a WI State Park sticker every year!

Sorry your Dad is still in the hospital. At least he is in good spirits! My poor Mom is so sick of being confined to her apartment. Depression is definitely increasing for her. I would love to bring her here for a bit but she has so many follow up appointments with her doctor's that it just can't be done!

I don't recall the cat patio story. Please retell!

Sorry about the news of your friends husbands scan. Sad news indeed!

I hope your trip to Boston goes well and that you have fun visiting while taking care of your aunt. You guys are so sweet for doing that!

Neat that you got to finally go to the fortress. I look forward to seeing the views from the hill on TT!

Hopefully your sicknesses will stay at bay and not hold you back from sightseeing!

Glad you had a good visit with DS and that he enjoyed his time as well. I'm rather liking hanging out with our adult children!

Enjoy the weather! Sounds like it isn't going to be quite as hot as it is here!

With all our new retirees and the mention of the $20 annual senior pass for national parks, an even better long term deal if you like national parks is the Lifetime Senior America the Beautiful Pass for $80. Same pass as the annual one, but lasts the rest of your life. My hiking friends loved them because it works so many places! You're eligible for it at 62.

My dad is still in the hospital, but I talked to him last night and he sounded in good spirits. They are waiting on the urine culture and blood tests to make sure they are giving him the right antibiotics and that his kidney is hanging in there, which take 24 and 48 hours. So he probably won't be discharged until tomorrow. But his TV has the golf channel and there is a tournament he can watch today, so that's a plus.

I finally got approved by the HOA for my new retractable screen for the patio that will probably always be referred to as "the cat patio". So that can be ordered (takes 6 weeks). I have an electrician coming on the 30th to find a way to put an outlet in the ceiling for it.

Did I mention I figured out how to fix the driveway lights? They turned them off inside the screwed-shut transformer. I must admit I patted myself on the back for figuring that one out with no help!

Today I am meeting my bff half way (well, more like 2/3 me-1/3 him) for lunch to give him back some mirrors he gave me a million years ago. He had them in his first house, he gave them to me for my second house, I'm giving them back for his current home. Recycling!

Today is only going to be 86! Woohoo! And tomorrow 82! So exciting. I even walked Kirby last night which other neighbors also decided to do, so his nose was in super sleuth mode smelling his friends the whole way.

I think I'll go walk Kirby again since he'll be alone this afternoon and it's only 73 now.

Take care all!

Yes! DH and I were commenting on how we are in training this weekend to be FL residents!

That's awesome you had a nice visit with DS. Preparations for Europe must be getting underway. Any updates on your SIL and her plans?

Yesterday I came home from my workout and thought, I'm tired, although it was physically tired, not mentally. So I read on the porch for awhile. Also a good retirement activity.

My Aunt's surgery went well, and she will probably be released today! Although its about 2 hours drive from Boston to Amherst. I hope that isn't too much. We arrive in Boston Monday. They have a caregiver lined up until Tuesday, which is when we'll take over.

Not good news about my friend's husband. He can't have his biopsy yet because he needs to be off Plavik for 2 weeks. The scan shows 3 tumors: the biggest in his pancreas, another in his liver, and one in his stomach. His blood work has some kind of cancer marker in it, which is astronomically high. Hope is always still an option until it isn't, but ... Another painful reminder that we must embrace the time we are given.

Off to a babyshower. My nephew and his wife are expecting a son in August. T will be lovely to see all my nieces.
