I would be tempted to call their son and relay your concerns. Just because they want to do something doesn't mean they should.
118 - down a bit
Somewhat more drama with the neighbor pick-up from the airport yesterday. We arrived just as they were at the office, but the wife was feeling very confused and not sure if she had paid for the flight. I suggested that payment was likely rendered when their SIL arranged it - her husband concurred and said he thought they gave their credit card number. We got to the condo which like ours has 2 locks - one for a deadbolt and one in the handle. Ours use the same key but theirs doesn't. They had one key but both were locked. So they called the property manager who said the housekeepers had both keys and were coming in the afternoon. We took their dog upstairs with us while they went out to lunch at the clubhouse. I checked with the housekeepers while our neighbors were at lunch and they and the property manager were scurrying around getting it all clean. They had been told that our neighbors were arriving today not yesterday which doesn't surprise me as we were originally told the wrong date too. So now I am worried because they said that they were flying from Orlando airport to Nashville at Thanksgiving to visit their son. A big airport to handle when one gets easily confused :(
Last bocce game of the season was late yesterday - we won one and lost the other so we aren't in the playoffs. Fine with me. We had fun playing and that's all I care about.
Today we have errands, maybe the pool for a bit? My golf league which is usually at 9:30 is at 3 for a Nine and Wine. All holes are set up as 3 pars with a wine tasting at holes 3, 6 and 9. Then appetizers at the clubhouse. Should be fun. DH and I have subscription tickets to Little Shop of Horrors which we may or may not go to depending on time. The reviews have not been good. Typically our subscription is for 4 shows and frequently the first one is a bit of a dud. The remainder which are in high season January to March/April are generally excellent.
Have a terrific Thursday!

Cracks me up that your DH is always prepared with the latest and greatest gadget depending on the situation. My DH is the grumbly old guy who doesn't like any new technological or other helpful contraption (like a battery charger). My DH wouldn't even buy a new battery until they are all dead LOL.

We had a deck on my former Cape Cod house which had been installed without flashing. And the surface boards which were wood were too close together. So ultimately a lot of rotted deck boards and siding under and behind the deck. It cost a bit (though probably less than your repair) to get it all replaced and flashing properly added but it was definitely worth it in the long run.
That guy does sound creepy - was perhaps casing the neighborhood homes for ones without anyone in them for a possible future break-in? Hopefully everyone is vigilant and the cops pay more attention.

Is it a cost thing or just I can do it thing with you father? Elderly services in Massachusetts had a program when my mother was failing where she received support for light housekeeping, food shopping and laundry for free. The woman came twice a week and my mother really enjoyed her company.
