Interesting that Liz and DD do not like the "french door" refrigerators. I don't know if the fridge I'd ideally like to have is even available. I'd prefer a bottom freezer, but with a single door fridge unit on top. I have the french door model, but it does have some drawbacks. Ours doesn't always fully shut with a gentle close. That is annoying and wasteful! When we moved in here the house had a side by side. I didn't like that at all because I couldn't put a decent sized platter in the fridge. We used to host a lot of dog club meetings during the summer, so I needed room for large items. The french door model makes holding big things a breeze.
200.9 this morning. Don't like that and not sure why... Oh well...
Was able to sleep on my side a little this morning. Still have to protect my ear, but boy it sure felt good... I wonder why it is that I feel less rested sleeping on my back the entire night? Something about lying on my side, knees bent, in an "adult fetal" position cuddled up with the blanket is so calming and emotionally warm. My left ear is almost feeling 100%. The right ear has a way to go...
Lunch with Dad today, but not much else on the schedule. Need to clean dog ears and cut nails today.
I'm feeling blessed to be in CA today. From Texas to North Dakota east to the Atlantic it seems that it is COLD, COLD, COLD!
I didn't like the French Door model either. I like ice in the door, so when we replaced our fridge a couple of years ago we also bought a side by side. But what a pain this whole electrical situation is! It's not like you needed to deal with the fall out of this when there is so much else happening. Those temps are unbelievable! Are these record lows?
121.4 - getting there. I have been under 120 for almost 1.5 years now so sneaking up past that hurts my head.
Well the refrigerator is slowly saying sayonara. Apparently that brand doesn't do well with power surges and it is a 14 year old refrigerator so no point in having a $700-$800 fix. Also no point in making a claim on our homeowners insurance because the ACV of such an old refrigerator would be less than our deductible. So we bought a new one yesterday to be delivered today. Though it is still somewhat functioning for refrigeration it is getting warmer so DH is going out to get ice right now (7:30 am) so we can put stuff into coolers. I am getting a side by side because unlike the rest of the world I don't like French door refrigerators. We got one when we redid the kitchen in central Massachusetts in 2011 and I hated it so when we replaced the one on Cape Cod I went back to a side by side. Who knew that the French door ones which were pretty new in 2011 would ultimately dominate the refrigerator market.
Hopefully the elevator will be fixed by the time the refrigerator comes though it wasn't as of last night. The sales person assured us they could deal with the stairs if they had to. It sure is lucky no one in our building is disabled because having the elevator out would become a really big deal.
Also, hopefully the delivery time does not conflict with the tennis tournament volunteer time (2:45-6:45). They are supposed to call this morning with our 2 hour delivery window.
Other than that we will be packing for the Keys. We plan to leave after the usual Sunday breakfast tomorrow. When we leave for breakfast the forecasted temperature will be at the low of 26, with wind chill making it feel like 10. Brrrr...
Time to put stuff in the cooler, then a Justice walk, followed by yoga. Have a sultry Saturday (not here with that forecast)!

Sorry you still haven't found the bracelet (I am guessing that since you didn't mention it) but you must have recaptured a lot of space in the closet! Those drive-by thrift shops are wonderful. To donate at the habitat restore on Cape Cod you have to make an appointment and get pre-clearance on large items. The one near us here is a drive-by that takes EVERYTHING, then sorts through it to determine what to do with it.

You can't even imagine what contemplating turning 71 on my next birthday does to my head. I always thought everyone over 70 was pretty darn old. My mother had been gimpy for 8 years by then (due to a broken hip when she was 62).

Greetings all
More sun today in spite of my Apple watch telling me it is cloudy. I managed to get the linen closet cleaned out yesterday. Amazing what I found. I now have a giant bag of old bed sheets that we don't use. I also have a large amount of linen items that are unopened in packages. Like a mattress pad that is a California king that I must have bought by mistake. There are some other sheets and duvet covers and I have no clue why I bought them or why I did not use them. Oh well. I think the thrift store will take the new stuff. We will see about the other stuff. The other sheets are all clean and usable but probably no one wants them. There is a big thrift store in Eureka that has a back alley that you can drive into and guys come out and take stuff - a thrifting drive by.
Too bad about the power surge Liz. No elevator is not cool. Hope it all gets fixed. Weird on how only half the building was impacted. Glad you did not need arctic clothing for the event. Also too bad about grandson's wrecked car. An insurance mess to untangle. Years ago I asked our insurance agent if our house sitter could drive our car and be covered and they said yes we were covered for an occasional driver - whatever that means.
CC you need to give your house a new name - like Terra del Kirby. Don't you just love a slow day. I am sure Kimbels had no idea what your message meant.
So I went to the studio for awhile today. Studio buddy stopped in for a bit. Honestly she is driving me nuts. I think she needs some mental health counseling and will ponder a tactful way to suggest it. Long story short I think she is sort of manic and borderline paranoid. Then I got a call from our director that the studio bank card has been compromised and that also our signature cards are out of date. They wanted the to remember which employee I dealt with there when the new cards were set up. Well duh I don't remember but I do know what I was told. Oy vey.
Yum yum sandwhiches tonight which DH thinks are a great delicacy.
Peps if I was in the market for plastics I would go to your surgeon. Looks like a great job. As the saying goes, "you...look...marvelous"! . Well if 75 is the gateway to old age then I am fast approaching. I felt like 70 was a change physically but I know 80 year olds that run circles around me.
Cheers. Diane S.
200.4 - all good. Down a couple of tenths...
Thanks for the wonderful feedback on my pic! Helps put any minor worries I have to rest. I know the swelling will last for months, so I'm trying to get out and about more. At the same time, though, I'm feeling very content to stay home in reclusiveness. I am finding this sort of hibernating/nesting behavior enjoyable, but rather out of character.
Ron enjoyed his day. I took him for a couples mani-pedi, which he loved and then took him to the seafood place he so enjoys. He loved his cioppino. I've wrapped my head around him being 75. I realized a few months ago that I was not ready for him to be 75! Go figure, right? For some reason I developed a belief 75 was the gateway into real old age. Not sure where that came from since most people in my family live well into their 80s and 90s. I have been able to reconcile Ron's numeric age and my thinking.
Good session with the NUT this afternoon.
Not much else going on in my world. Until tomorrow!

How lucky to have an insurance agent in the family! They must all be different. My company just sent a generic email recently about if you have anyone else drive your car, have them added even if for a short period.
My DD is our insurance agent and she sent us an underwriter's statement that neither the grandson nor his mother needed to be added since they are named on the mother's policy. But DH may request that the grandson drive his mother's car and she drive his for now. Both are about the same size SUVs

I'm not sure - apparently it affected several buildings in our area and the electric company (FPL) had to fix it.
