My dad is back in the hospital. They know the bacteria he has now and has had since June. It's extremely hard to get rid of (obviously) and resistant to most antibiotics. The doctor is trying to get the infectious disease department involved to see if they can help. He's basically ending up in the hospital every 2-4 weeks now and feels crappy in between. Claudia and I decided the goal needs to not be getting him home, but getting him well. Otherwise, coming here this winter may not be a great idea.
Raining today and for much of the coming week with some daytime breaks. The plants will be thrilled!
On a whim, I decided todo a facial yesterday at a laser medispa here that gets great reviews and that a friend raves about. I thought it was a regular facial, but it was all kinds of lasery treatments! All at the lowest levels while she learns my skin and I see what works and doesn't. Not at all what I expected, but I'm glad I did it. She did IPL all over, RF microneedling along my jaw and marionette lines, and cold plasma all over (felt fine except really uncomfortable on my forehead - apparently lack of fat there means it conducts well into your bones. I could also feel it in the roots of my teeth. Icky feeling). She also lasered some broken capillaries and what I thought was a mole above my eyebrow for the last 20 years, but turns out was a sebaceous thing. That last alone was worth it. I'm slightly itchy today, but in a week, it should look pretty good! I already have an appointment for next month for a carbon peel that she said zaps clogged stuff from pores and makes them appear smaller. Fun!
The painting came and is on the wall. Looks great.
That's all from here. Enjoy your Sundays!
Our stuff should get here on the 22nd. The house is fully furnished with furniture but doesn't have kitchen supplies, towels etc. I packed what I thought we would need for that first week in our car.
I probably will leave a review on the VRBO but they are actually selling this place and it is pending so not sure how much longer they plan to rent it out. Perhaps they have other properties though.

Yesterday was deceased DH's birthday. I talked to the kids and they were doing well but DS was feeling very sad. We talked about that last birthday party that DS insisted on. It was tiring and confusing for DH but it was a good opportunity for his friends to see him one last time. Though he couldn't really talk by then and I don't think he knew why he recognized the people, I do think he knew that they were friends.
Yesterday we had a real beach day finally. We read and snoozed on the pool deck, took a long walk on the beach, then went to Happy Hour at the bar for a short time. Dinner was whatever we could cobble at home.
The bus leaves for breakfast at 7:30 as usual. We have a free lunch during which we hear a presentation of a Safari trip, followed by a Nine and Dine of golf and dinner. These events are hugely attended as they are a lot of fun even if you don't play golf very well like me.
Time to get changed for breakfast and start the laundry. Have a surprising Sunday!

The humidity is really low compared to the rest of the year right now which is part of why I like fall. No need for the AC to be on especially at night.
I agree with Peps that you need to give the VRBO people a review that includes the refrigerator situation. I wouldn't rent a place from someone who didn't give you a break on the rent or some similar recompense. It's just not right. We rented a place once that was advertised to be a single family but it turned out that someone lived downstairs. As a result we didn't feel comfortable using the backyard. The owner did give us a reduction in our rent when we complained about the false advertising. We suggested they tell the truth in the future.
Florida homeowners tomorrow! Seems like it came fast. When will your furniture arrive? Will it have any furniture at all before your stuff comes?

You are getting many, many good person points for helping out your Mom. Good find of the clothing!

Hot flashes like that are the worst! I started them sometime in my mid-forties and still have them though they have trailer off in severely and frequency. But at their height when I was 47 they seemed close to constant and were almost unbearable. I actually get slightly sick to my stomach just before I start to get hot. I have only heard that from one other woman. I never took hormones because at the time they were thought to be dangerous for your heart. Not true today and my hot flashes might have been less if I took them but also my bones would probably be stronger now.

DH has a gym habit too, but doesn't work his body as extensively as you. He spends most of his time on the elliptical, then some on lifting weights. He needs to add core work but can't seem to work that into his habit.
Good luck on getting the shoes. We went to Disney World once when it rained torrentially the entire time we were there. Huge, deep puddles. We all had flip flops on which turned out to be the best shoe because people in sneakers were squishing water all over the place.

Nice nails Liz! I'm living this FL weather so far but am surprised how chilly the mornings and evenings are. I actually have to sleep with socks on and a good weight blanket is on the bed as it feels so cold!
Pretty relaxing day today. DH and I walked the VRBO neighborhood, spent a lot of the day pool side, drove around the community we will be moving in to and checked out another tiki bar restaurant for dinner. Drinks were better at tonight's but the one we went to the other night had better food. They are literally 2 doors down from each other, so we could always do drinks at one and eat at the other. I guess both have live music often.
Tomorrow we are going to check out a church and then have our final walkthrough late afternoon.
I've been ordering patio furniture, a makeup vanity for the master bedroom, and some decorations for the house. More to come but I need to measure spaces first!
I like the nails a lot Liz. Years ago I used to get acrylic nails, and while they were pretty, I agree they were expensive and time consuming. I did not enjoy appointments because they were so booooring. Pedicures I like, but manicures are tedious.
But now I see I am an outlier in our group. I LOVE pepperoni pizza. But I'm also happy with just cheese, or a veggie pizza. Just no sausage please.
Yes, today I tackled the fridge. It looked pretty good in that I didn't really need to throw out stuff, but the interior and handles needed a good scrub down. Doing more laundry, and I also found a basket of clothes that currently fit my Mom crammed in a closet in the guest room. I sorted through it with her, and folded the ones she wanted to keep and put them in the rotation with the other clothes she wears.
It's been two long, long days. I'm hoping my Dad is back by 4pm tomorrow. I am using my disassociation skills to remain kind of numb and teflon. Last night my Mom woke me up 3 times to help her with things like she couldn't get her blanket over her feet, she was thirsty, and she wanted an orange. She doesn't really sleep for more than a few hours at a time.
That's all the news from here. Looking forward to my house tomorrow.
