Welcome home! Rest up before you embark again. NYC at Christmas time is definitely worth it.

I am home! Everything went smoothly. I have unpacked one bag so far, and have 2 more to go. On our way into our neighborhood we had to stop for the school bus dropping off kids. I am so disconnected from the rhythm of the school year. I see via Facebook posts that my high school already had Homecoming this week!

Ocean Diane, I do hope you keep us updated on your trip to Portugal. It's on my list. I speak Brazilian Portuguese, which is different from Portugal Portuguese the way American English is different from UK English. I'm curious to see if I get to Portugal some day if I can understand or be understood.

One more sleep Liz!

I'm ready to be home for a bit. Sometime this week we will go visit my parents. Otherwise we are not traveling out of state until October 19, when we will meet my BIL and SIL in Galveston. There may be another quick trip to Boston this fall to help DD if she decides to move. We have tentative plans for a mid week trip to New York in early December to see Christmas decorations and the Rockettes, if it's feasible for the budget. Then the big trip to Brazil, leaving the beginning of January and staying 6 weeks. As our dates are flexible, we will shop for the best deal in airfare this week.

Good morning Tribe ! I have no excuse for my absence commenting regularly, although I do check in regularly. I've loved the recent reminders of how far we have all come and hearing the experiences of all of us moving forward into new chapters. Wednesday, I leave for ten days in the Azores and Portugal. When I return, I intend to comment more regularly.

My daughters are doing well and Sadie is closing in on eleven and slowing down. Four years without an intimate, romantic relationship (mostly forever without a healthy, intimate, romantic relationship) and I am grateful for my resilience and independence. My life feels rich and full although I do envy aspects of a healthy, intimate relationship with a partner.

Y'all are important to me, and this connection means a lot to me.

117.2 - up .4 though I had almost no appetite yesterday so had to make myself eat dinner. Always weird!

One more night/morning without DH. We will have been apart for 10 days. I am ready for his company again!

Yesterday I put off the light housekeeping etc and found a new Tiki Bar (new to me) where I listened to music and watched the football game. Disappointing yet predictable end to the Patriots/Steelers game.

Today our handyman is supposed to be back to install newly painted cabinet doors in the bathroom and finish up some tweaks around new lights in the bathroom and hall. Thursday the bathtub gets painted white vs battleship gray so the makeover will be complete once we put up the new picture above the bathtub. It is DH's birthday gift and is a large photo of the beach we walk to from his Cape Cod house during low tide. Along the lines of freshening up some stuff, I have a counter refinishing place looking at my counter in the kitchen for an estimate tomorrow and the water shut-off valve to the condo is being replaced on Thursday.

My other efforts this fall are getting my follow-up appointments stemming from my new PCP visit.

But first time to walk with Justice and go to water aerobics. Have a mobile Monday!

LOL on the Grand Canyon. One of my stepdaughter's dogs likes to dig like that. And then there are the dirty paws of course. That has been the downside of the fenced in yard - that the dogs can hide out and get in trouble. Justice is such a well-behaved older man that I didn't think about that. He mostly lies around on the deck only occasionally venturing out into the yard for a stroll or to do his business.

Coolish here today, when we walked to the nearby coffee shop for a late breakfast. City living does have it's perks. Later we went to see the movie The Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Pretty meh, which was disappointing because it starred Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie who are talented actors. DD hated it, DH said he liked parts of it, and I felt like there was a story there, but we just skimmed the surface like a skipping stone and never got to the depths of anything compelling.

Now we are trying to pack all of the souvenirs we've collected along the way including several bottles of wine and one of honey whiskey. I think we can do it!

It's been a wonderful trip, or I guess several different trips. Part 1: Boston Part 2: Scotland Part 3: Rockport MA Part 4: Ithaca and the Finger Lakes Part 5: Amherst Part 6: Boston . DH asked if I'm ready to go home, and I am, but if he said we could deviate to stop at a warm sandy beach, I could wait a few more days to go home. That's one thing I haven't had so far in my retirement. I went swimming ONCE since June. I will make up for it the 6 weeks we are in Brazil.

I'll "see" you all tomorrow when I'm back to the midwest.
