Jennifer I haven't had surgery yet, however I hope that when my weight loss slows down I will realize that the 40 pounds I just lost will be LOST FOREVER! This is the first time in my life that I know the weight I lose will be gone forever. I think it would be hard to not get caught up in loosing as much as anyone else. Just keep your mind focused on getting enough protein, drinking enough water and exercising. And...post when you need to. Take Care and hang in there. Mari Seattle.

Jennifer, When I read your post I thought of myself. As to how you feel not the little comments from your group. I had my surgery on 11/13/2002. My friend Carol had her surgery on the same day, she has lost more than I have but we are 2 different people. I am so proud of how far both of us have come in the short time since surgery. I have taken into consideration of how I feel and how alot of my health problems are now gone. If I didnt lose another pound I would still feel that this surgery has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I no longer have high bloodpressure(off all medication), my knees dont hurt anymore, cholesterol down to almost normal, have quit smoking, and have energy. I went into this surgery so that I could live a longer healthier life. What anyone else thinks just doesnt matter. Ignore the negative and just always remember how good you feel, because when it comes down to it that is all that really matters. Keep up the good work. There are alot of people very proud of your success.

JENNIFER~~ Although it's extremely hard to do, please don't compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone is different and everyone looses at different rates. Here's a web site that gives you a graph of what kind of weight loss you can expect after WLS. Until I put my numbers in here, I was comparing myself to others on the message board- now I know that I'm on track to loose 90% of my excess weight within 12 months. http://www.pacificbariatrics.com/postopplanner.phtml
