I can hardly believe it has been nearly 10 months since my VSG. I look and feel like a new person! I have lost over 140 pounds, and am only 24 away from my goal. I can see my feet, shop in a normal clothing store for normal sizes, walk for miles with

So I am 6 weeks post op, and I have graduated to well-chewed solids. My biggest issue is trying to eat anything! I get full very quickly, and I have a hard time getting even 500 calories per day in.
I eat slowly, chew well, and just can't se

Today I graduated to puréed foods. For supper, I blended up 2oz of tuna with 1tbsp low fat mayo, and a couple teaspoons of water. I nibbled at it over about 40 minutes, but I never had that "wow I am full" feeling.
I worry that I ate too muc

I am happy to say that I am finally feeling better after being sleeved on May 31st. I had a fair bit of post operative pain, a LOT of nausea, and a ridiculous amount of reflux. Not the smoothest ride, but I think I am finally coming through to the ot

Feeling kind of nervous, and also a little scared. This is such a huge step, and is permanently life-altering. It is worth it though. 10am tomorrow is my surgery time, and I am looking forward to being in recovery!

I am nervous! I hope I can stick to it. 2-3 protein shakes, with clear fluids for 2 full weeks.
Any helpful tips?

I am so excited that I got my surgery date today! I will have my new sleeve on May 31st :) Pre-op is May 2nd, and I see the internist on May 4th. No idea what either appointment involves, but I hope to get some information in a mail-out package.

So my surgical consult went really well. My surgeon said that I am healthy, and it is really my decision on whether to opt for the sleeve or RNY. He has ordered an upper GI scope to ensure there is no signs of GERD, and I will be contacted with the die

Tomorrow is my surgical consult, and I am having a lot of stupid worries. I thought I might post them here, if only to get them out of my head and into the open air.
Will I ever be able to sit with crossed legs again?
Will I ever

I am a nurse on an acute care unit, and my job involves a LOT of lifting. Lifting patients, bending, on my feet for 12 hour shifts, etc. Approximately how long would it be until I was able to perform my normal duties post-op RNY?

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone here has gone through a private surgeon for gastric bypass instead of through OHIP? I have been looking at Dr. Al-Kassem in Simcoe, but was hoping someone may have some experience with him? Or perhaps a diff
